Essential Words for the TOEFL (Barron's Test Prep) Seventh Edition

Purchased this with two additional TOEFL books that I have not had the chance to use yet. If the other two are nearly as good, I will not be disappointed. The "Essential words for the TOEFL" has improved my English proficiency and expanded my ability to refine my previously boring sentences. Practice test are located at the end of each lesson and are not easy. However, the tests will ensure you have mastered the chapters words. My husband, a native speaker thinks the book is worthwhile for everyday word improvement as well as test preparation.Proficiency, Refine and Worthwhile are all words from the book used in my review. I have a ways to go learning English, this book seems to be helping. Grammar on the other hand, is driving me nuts.

I recommend this book to all my TOEFL students. This summary perfectly reflects the sophisticated low-frequency vocabulary needed for the TOEFL and it's mixed with high-frequency words to create a rounded set of vocabulary. However, as a student, don't expect to read this book in a week or two and have memorized all words. It takes a lot of practice and repetition to remember and use these words naturally.

This book undoubtedly helped me with the dreaded TOEFL exam. Its up-to-date exercises, model essays, and in-depth vocabulary review gave me the knowledge and confidence necessary to pass my test. Beyond that, it remains a helpful guide to retain those essential words necessary to master fluent language. It'll always have a place on my bookshelf, and I couldn't be happier with this pick, among the several manuals out there.

This is great to improve your vocabulary, but it’s a way too much for the exam. It’s a great companion but don’t be overwhelmed.Use it as guide , don’t try to memorize everything !
