Where have you been all my life?
First time router user here. But seasoned handyman. So take into consideration when reading my review. My needs will be more on the basic side. I bought this router because I am changing out all those ugly 6 panel, hollow core doors in my house with new solid core single panel door slabs. I needed a router to mortise new hinges and other hardware for the doors. I also bought jigs made for this purpose as well. And this router works well with those jigs. It's smaller and lighter than full size routers making it easier to control when resting on top of a small plastic jig. I am sure I will have additional basic router needs for future projects. I bought this router because I'm a fan of Bosch tools.Pros: Value for the money, speed control, compact size and weight, availability of additional accessories (if needed), quality build, quality brand, easy to use, smart engineering, not very loud, nice long chord.Cons:1. With the base included in this purchase, I can't see the router bit very well when using. This makes viewing my cut line difficult, especially with the saw dust flying around. But I guess that can change if I add a plunge base accessory. For my hinge mortising project, I have found the jigs that I use to be ultra reliable. I don't need to be able to see the bit while it's cutting. And I get perfect results, despite not seeing the jig too well. So this really isn't that big of a con.Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and feel quite confident this tool will last a long time and was a good value for the money.

Fits the cheap Rockler mdf router deck
Nice. Bolted straight in to the router plate for the cheap Rockler router deck. I have rigged the deck so it can be clamped to the edge of a workbench and this Colt router replaces the worn-out HF router I’ve had for the last 15 years. Big improvement, the HF bearings were so worn the shaft oscillated and would not reach proper revs. When I installed the HF router on that plate I had to drill new leveling holes which are blind, they don’t go all the way through the plastic plate. This was needed to rotate the plate so the base of the router would clear the bosses that hold the deck height adjusting screws. This rotation was also required for the Colt router, I don’t recall if the blurbage on the Rockler table or the commentary about it referred to this modification.I use this setup to recut the rabits on a pile of teak decking I removed from my sailboat. I use this teak to build numerous boxes for various 7-segment display annunciators and the rabit forms an inside recess that frames a piece of tinted lexan that forms a cover.

Bosch build quality is excellent.
this is an excellent piece of machinery. I needed a router to cut out 4 feet long 3/8 inch wide slots in 1/4 inch wood for a school project. I originally brought the cheap workpro router on Amazon but their own router bits wont fit their chuck. Returned workpro and brought this bosch and I was done with the job in few minutes. Since the slots started at an offset of 2 inches from both edges, I drilled a starter hole smaller than the bit and was able to cut the slots in one pass. i did not need a plunge router attachment.

Strong little motor
So I have to first confess to returning this unopened. That is only because I found a close out deal locally on the same router. This is a hard working little motor. Again, it is a little motor so it does have limitations. Just take it slow and plan to make several passes and increase depth on each pass. I have become very comfortable with the router table over the years but this was my first hand/palm router. My second one, it is also a Bosch.

Best Price around for a solid workhorse
We run a commercial Cabinet shop and these routers run nonstop all day every day. Comfortable in the hand and a solid workhorse that lasts for years. This is literally half the price that my local distributors or even my Big Tool suppliers carry this for. If you're working with Laminate, this is the tool.
