Nutcracker (1st Edition)

Book was exactly as the seller described. I was hesitant to order since the seller had only a few reviews, but so glad I took a chance.

A lot of our family Christmas books got destroyed by water in a Hurricane! I was so relieved when I found this book! It is in great condition and I am very pleased with it! I will be giving this book to my mother as a gift, with others I found on Amazon, for her birthday.

This edition with illustrations by David Delamare deserves a five-star review. The artwork is really exceptional and deserves our applause. Each full-page drawing could rightly be cut out, framed, and put on any wall in the country, grand or humble. I love the drawings. The writing in the text seems stilted to me. This may be because the bookmakers simply translated the original eighteenth-century German and it just came out that way.

This version of the Nutcracker is such a lush and gorgeous version due to the amazing illustrations of Carter Goodrich. The pictures are rich and colorful, and there is such a warmth and depth to them that I rarely see in childrens' books. It is very charming. If you search on the internet, you can at least find the cover illustration.

I am so happy! I have searched for a copy of this exact book for years and it was amazing to find it. I was a little worried as it said it was only in good condition, but when it arrived it was practically perfect!
