Very nice old-school joystick
Good old-school joystick so I can play Jumpman on my PC (via the C64 emulator of course).

Mine still works well after a year
I've had one of these for a year now. I use it for about 1 hour a week, and the joystick on mine is still in great shape.Maybe there was a second version released.

NOT WORTH IT -
After multiple attempts, there was no automatic connection. Even re-loading a driver did not enable the joystick to work on my PC - - NO GO !

Great game-play, but can you map the buttons?
So far so good! flows nicely without that annoying clickity-click feel of some recent joysticks (where it's pretty much buttons under the rubber). Seems sturdy enough if you are not particularly aggressive with your gaming. In my case the extra buttons have been a nuisance that I cannot figure out how to map in my emulator (Altirra), so I had to deactivate them in the emulator. Still, for this price, it's a good deal.

Works GREAT for emulation
Great little joystick. If you're using an Atari emulator (Stella) on your PC, this is the perfect companion. Its got enough buttons on it to emulate the switches on the original Atari, but it doesn't all work out of the box, just the core joystick functions.. You WILL have to map the select buttons and such, which isn't hard to do at all. You simply find the command you want the button to do in the software, click map and the press the appropriate button on the joystick. The joystick itself is very responsive and smooth, much easier to use then the stiff joysticks from the original Atari. People who are saying this doesn't work don't understand how joystick mapping works.

Awesome for Windows Emulation!
I was using an Icode dot com adapter to get my Atari and C-64 joysticks to work with Windows emulation and Retroarch. I did this successfully for several l years. But after having an issue with it and never getting any message back from icode after calling them, I tried this joystick because I wanted something that was going to work in Windows directly without a middle man type device. These work perfectly. They have a feel like the original Atari 2600 controllers and they just plain work! I love it. I bought a 2nd one as well! Running two on the same Windows 11 system with Retroarch with no issues at all. love these things!

Shaft BREAKS easily ALL the time!
I bought many of the Trooper joysticks for the Retron 77 and the Trooper 2 Premium joysticks on Amazon and from Micro Center. The joysticks are JUNK! The shaft screws into the base of the unit, the shaft and screw threading are plastic (weak plastic). After a few days of normal use the shaft broke at the point where it screws into the base. This has happened to me on 2 Trooper sticks for the Retron 77 and now 3 of the Trooper 2 sticks and 1 of which my friend was using, so it's not just me. I hope one day a worthy replacement for the original Atari 2600 joysticks that are USB are released by someone or company.I've also reached out to the company many times and was told they don't sell the shafts separately, so essentially I'm screwed and for every 3 or 4 hours of use, I must go buy a NEW Trooper to replace the broken one! No way! Forget the Trooper and for me due to poor customer service forget about Hyperkin the company who makes them.
