YOU MAY NOT KNOW YOU NEED IT UNTIL YOU GET IT!
Discovered the TOTO smart toilet on our first visit to Kyoto, Japan last year and my wife LOVED IT! So....we decided to buy one for our home. We chose the Amazon expert installation which turned out to be a very wise choice as there was a problem with the location of our water supply. The unit arrived in two packages, one for the washlet and seat, and the other for the unit itself (114 lbs). Great packaging and no damage in shipment. Philip, the installation technician, came to our home on three separate occasions: once to start installation, a second time to check on the $200 water supply relocation and to put drywall over the hole, and a third time to install the toilet. He did a fantastic job for $300! Could never have put this in myself and our plumber would likely have charged us $600 or $700 to do the job. The toilet has worked flawlessly since Philip installed it and it is just as great as the $5,000 model that we had in our hotel room in Kyoto, Japan. My wife LOVES IT, and so do I. We highly recommend this TOTO.Chuck in HoustonWell, we’ve used the Toto for 10 months now and love it! It has worked flawlessly thus far and makes other toilets look and feel primitive. Don’t know we could live without it!

AMAZING... Does more than one can imagine.
The only negative: my contractor was not pleased when I picked something he was not familiar with, but once installed, now I think he is going to get one, too. ;)Things I did not see mentioned:• Does everything Very Quietly. No chirps, bells, or perky sounds (some Totos do make sounds)• Does much more to provide comfort and cleanliness than described in online video in a very sturdy way (meaning, many cleaning levels and options).• Toilet is totally touch-free (except for touching remote).• Remote has few buttons, so I found it very intuitive due to very few words and simple graphics.• Creating your own user preference profile is Easy, and Intuitive. I did not read the manual to do that correctly.• Offers two amounts of flush water if you choose to flush manually.• Generally you won't need toilet paper AT ALL, except a small amount to "double check" with.• The deodorizer has no scent. It is a charcoal filter that cleanses the inside of bowl. It starts as soon as you sit.• With deodorizer, my room's ceiling exhaust fan is now redundant.• Yes, it's automatic and a bit FREAKY to experience at first, but becomes your best friend after a while! ;)

Needlessly complicated. Slippery tech support. You can have a better toilet and spend much less.
Four years ago I purchased the Toto A100 seat and fitted it on a Kohler toilet. It looked wonderful and worked outstanding. It provided everything I wanted. The heated seat was exceptionally useful in the middle of Winter nights when we set down our thermostat during sleeping hours. The warm water wash worked flawlessly. Combined with Kohler porcelain, we had a combination that worked perfectly. We moved to a new location and decided to renovate our new home. I opted for this integrated toilet that provided all of the features I was used to as well as drying, auto-open, and Toto porcelain. This toilet purports to provide a cleaning system that is superlative. The truth is that this toilet requires constant brushing if you don't care to look at yesterday's work. As a matter of fact, I would have to say that no toilet I've ever owned was more susceptible to showing stains. The toilet provides the choice of a light or full flush. Even many full flushes will not clean the bowl. Have a brush nearby. The Kohler porcelain was not susceptible to stains and uses less water. This toilet starts trying to clean the moment that you sit down. which would be alright if the feature actually worked. This more expensive integrated option also provides an air-dryer. You must be patient for it to have any utility. Probably several newspaper articles worth of patience. This more expensive integrated option also provides auto-open and close. This is impressive from the beginning and does provide some value for late night visits. The problem is that there isn't a way to adjust the sensitivity. Walking into our bathroom, whether for sink, bath, or shower causes this device to open. It is something of a nuisance.Several months after getting the toilet, we started getting mysterious puddles in front of the toilet at seemingly random times. Because of this and also the toilet's inability to ward off staining, I contacted Toto technical support. They had me send in photos of the installation. They told me that the problem was that I didn't use a Toto shutoff valve. Apparently because the Toto valve had a different finish, my plumber didn't use it and didn't keep the original. Now they won't support the toilet until I spend $70 on their shutoff valve. I'm thinking that the ultimate resolution here is to yank the toilet out and send it back.If I had it to do over again, I would opt for precisely what I had previously had: The Kohler toilet with the Toto seat. I would have gotten everything I wanted without all of the things I don't care for.

I call mine Jim (so I can say I woke up early and went to the Jim)
My Toto Washlet (aka "Jim") was the best purchase of my adult life. When we purchased our new home, we decided to have various renovations done before we moved in. One of those, at my request, was to find an upgraded toilet for the master bathroom. That's when Jim entered our life. I used a bide system when in Japan and have wanted one ever since. It is such a pleasure to have a nice warm seat to heat my tush followed by a warm stream of water in the morning...sometimes I think that Jim does love me and only wants to make me happy...his only purpose. I say good morning to Jim (and he says hello while opening his lid when I walk near him). He asks me about my morning and let's me know we can continue our discussion after coffee. It's been a complete pleasure. It does not need cleaning as the prestream of water allows for the "flush" to keep the bowl clean. The carbon filter system also eliminates any odors that accompany this activity. Tonight, when I put my head on the pillow, I can rest a little easier knowing that Jim is there, waiting for me, ready to take care of me. Everyone should have a Jim in their life.
