I've had this 3 weeks and just love it. I've had more expensive fully automatic esspresso makers that I loved, but what I like better about this is the size and the simplicity. It's compact, but looks elegant compared to any of the others. It has lots of smart features. The water container isn't large, but it very conveniently opens and inserts from above. I just refill whenever I make coffee like we used to when we would make perculated or drip coffees. The pellets are easy to empty and the bean grinder seals tight keeping the beans fresher. There may be bells and whistles missing, but none that I use.The app was difficult to set up for me, but since it's been set up it works really well with reminders to fill or empty grounds etc. It would be nice to have more settings in the app, like the ability to make a personal favorite like 2 lungos and 1 esspresso, but it does let you adjust grind time and temp for the set options. I like the app once set up and I love the machine and the esspresso it produces.I definitely recommend.

First, and most important, the espresso from this espresso maker is EXCELLENT!The Café Affetto is simple to use. Add water, add espresso beans, and you're ready to go! The water reservoir has a filter, but we use water from a Brita filter, so it's twice filtered, because NJ water. It has buttons for Espresso (1.5oz), Americano (1.5 oz espresso plus 3oz of hot water), Lungo (3.5oz espresso), My Cup (which you can only set in the SmartHQ app), and Hot Water.My Cup can be Ristretto (a short cup), a Double Espresso (it makes one 1.5oz espresso, then another), a Triple Espresso (three 1.5oz espressos), or a red Eye (which is a 3.5oz Lungo with a 1.5oz espresso on top). You can start any of these directly from the SmartHQ app. We currently have the My Cup set to a Double Espresso.We got a separate milk frother since this model doesn't have one. The separate milk frother is easier to clean, and was cheap. It has settings for heated or cold, and how much it froths. We use creamer instead of milk and it froths nicely.My wife likes a strong drink, so it's a double espresso for her. I prefer a milder drink, so for me, it's the Americano. We both like the Major Dickason's Blend - Dark Roast beans. The coffee from this machine is delicious.

June 2024 - I haven't had the expensive versions ($1-2+K) for comparison, but this title item makes nice coffee - tasting WAY better than the Keurig items i've gotten used to.The app is atrociously bad - GE should be really embarrassed .......The water reservoir is way too small, requiring frequent refilling and requires pulling the machine way out on the countertop to access.BUT ..... makes decent coffee; i like it; hope it lasts.September 2024 - Review above written within several weeks of receiving this item; now, 3 months later, that last question is answered - it hasn't lasted - still makes coffee, but won't descale and internet search confirms this is a common problem, to which GE supplies no resolution......

I purchased this as I already had the Tchibo machine which is almost identical, which I have been using for over 6 months and love.Affetto, not a brand I am familiar with, but turns out it's actually a GE affiliate, as it uses their app platform SmartIQ for it's WiFi functions.It's quite easy to use, water chamber with integral filter, bean hopper on top, movable spout for different cup sizes etc.Makes single, double espresso, Lungi, Americano and "My Brew" which are customized bean grind times and water volume and temperature settings done through the app.I found the Americano weak, so I changed the settings.The espresso and lungi settings are smooth and strong.The WIFI is a bit of a joke, and more of a gimmick than anything else, only really for settings and maintenance info, not for making your drink remotely. It also takes multiple attempts to set up, even the instructions tell you to expect that!Overall I'm happy with the machine, with the $20 coupon it was over $75 cheaper than the Tchibo, for what is essentially the same machine.Would have liked a hopper extended for increased bean capacity, and the default coffee settings need a tweak.Overall I rated it 4 stars.

The media could not be loaded. So this unit fell on sale for 280 snagged it up right away. Came in a day tossed out my Nespresso machine I no longer answer to the POD overlord . Ordered some lavazza grand crema espresso whole beans came same time with the machine what a world we live in today.Anyways the machine is nice it’s astheticly pleasing feels well built and solid and does what it says it does makes espresso / other styles with just a push and nothing else from you no prep no grinding no weighing no cleaning nada.The app- had issues connecting to WiFi but did so manually with the manual option in app it guides you so it’s easy but I can see some elderly folks struggle with it. you don’t have to connect the app or WiFi for this unit to work but I HIGHLY recommend you do. why ?The taste of the espresso out of the box is well meh nothing to write home about it’s watered down and if your an espresso drinker you wanna taste those beans . That’s where the app comes in. You can in the app easily adjust grind time (more grind time more concentrated flavour) increase temp (better extraction and crema) and dialing these settings in is crucial. You can go from a MEH cup of espresso to one that has you just smiling and sipping away on bliss. Full flavor great crema just overall awesome machine.
