Tillamook Country Smoker - Beef Jerky Chew 40-Count - OLD FASHIONED
I must first say that I love beef jerky chew period. It's good stuff. I'm not really picky, but I know what makes good jerky good: flavor, texture/consistency, leanness, and moisture. That being said, most jerky chews have a dry and somewhat powdery consistency. This is simply because there aren't pieces big enough to hold any moisture in. My experience has been with Jack Link's, Buffalo Bill's, and now, thankfully, Tillamook. I will immediately say that this is the best beef jerky chew I have yet tried. Jack Link's is usually dry and powdery with tiny pieces. Buffalo Bill's is basically just shredded and full of randomized chunks from painfully large (for placing in the lip) to tiny powdery pieces with an overall dry moisture level. I've even had pieces of grisel and sinew threads in Buffalo Bill's and had to pick them out and chew on them separately. So, I decided to take a leap of faith and try this Tillamook beef jerky chew. It's not available where I live simply because I live near the East Coast, and it's made on the West Coast. Tillamook is amazing. I have never eaten jerky chew this fast! I've already easily eaten about 10 of the 40. The flavor is wonderful: not too strong, not too weak smoked wood flavor- I love how it's a deep flavor, but not overbearing at all. The saltiness is not bad, just about right for jerky. Now what makes this jerky chew shine over the others: it's consistency and moisture. It has generally the same moisture level as normal whole jerky yet in tiny pieces. The consistency is just about right for placing in your lip or chewing like normal. So far, my batch has had consistent texture and piece size throughout and the moisture level is the same throughout (thank you Tillamook for sealing each can very well). The piece size is about like semi-finely cut sawdust- fluffy and not powdery. This jerky was clearly made from good, lean meat without much fat or grisel in our final product. It's an all around good jerky chew, and I will definitely be buying again since the current price can't be beaten for less than $1 a can.Pros:flavortexture/consistency is uniform and just right for lip or chewinglean meat is usedmoisture is rightCons:NoneI highly recommend this beef jerky chew! Thanks

Critical Review
Container: Easy to open. Closes easy but also can loosen easily if unwantedly dropped.Taste: Slightly spicy: i have enjoyed the spicy tinge.I could taste beef flavor very easily but lacked enough juice as one sucked on the product.I prefer my beef jerky chew to have alot of this quality.Container Box Size: As for the buying of this product for $38 dollars is a good price for quantity for 40 disc containers. My verdict is if one does not feel like spending $40 - 50$ (Preferably $45) for the teriyiaky beef jerky chew. This will be a very fine substitute but i myself would make this my 3rd or 2nd choice of chewI gave it 3 stars because i couldn't give it 3 and a half and it wouldn't diserve 4

I prefer Jack Link's
This was a better deal so I gave it a shot. This chew is more gritty when Jack Link's is more powdery and easier to manipulate when forming a pinch. Also the can lids only slide on to close; there is no ridge like there is on the Jack Link's cans, which secures the lid on tight. I use jerky chew as my tobacco substitute, and Jack Link's is superior to this for my use.ETA: I bumped this up to 4 stars .. I actually have begun to enjoy the grittiness of this chew. The taste is superior to the Jack Link's flavors I've tried as well. The lack of lid lock is still an inconvenience .. albeit minor. I'm still not happy seeing half full cans when I first open them, though...

Product is great, price is not so great
Great product, tasty, and good for you! or at least I tell myself that. The problem is not the product. it is the price at first it seemed like a great price less than 1.00 a can.Go to Tilamook's site directly and you will find it vastly cheaper about .70 cents a can vs 94 or something like that. The only catch is you have to order 50.00 worth of stuff to get free shipping there.

Great flavor, would of given 5 stars if not ground up so small.

The flavor is OK and it is coarse which is fine with me but it really irks me that they ...
can is maybe 1/3 full..took 3 cans to fill 1 container. Don't buy this and assume you are going to get full cans because they are not!!! The flavor is OK and it is coarse which is fine with me but it really irks me that they portray this can which I assumed was full and it is far from full.
