It’s broken then. You should contact the manufacturer, two months is well within the warranty period.

Could you use this as an under blanket electric blanket option also ? As it would be lovely and soft

You could do. But personally I wouldn't recommend you purchasing it. I bought it for my daughter. And while she was sat in bed with it on. She noticed smoke coming from it. I quickly unplugged it. And upon close inspection, I saw that the elements that heat the blanket. They had burned through the blanket. I dread to think what could of happened if she was asleep, so wouldn't of noticed the smoke coming from it. I think a few minutes longer and it would of caught fire. So my advice to you is to purchase another brand. Stay away from this particular one.
