CHANCS TYC40 AC 12V Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor 5RPM CW/CCW Shaft Length 4.6cm for Fiber Optic Light Christmas Ornamen

I needed a replacement 12V AC/AC synchronous 5rpm motor for a 30 year old 24” fiber optic Christmas tree. I could have bought a new tree for $30, but my family is sentimentally attached to this particular tree.The original motor had a 60mm long shaft, but after a long search on Amazon and the Internet, I could only find a longer shaft of 74mm, or a shorter shaft of 46mm…but none of the 60mm. After measuring the base of my tree, I concluded that the long 74mm shaft would fit.I was wrong. When I installed the new motor, the 74mm shaft was a little too long…maybe 3mm…just enough that I couldn’t screw on the bottom of the base. This was my error. When tested, the motor worked perfectly, but it is so inexpensive it’s not worth returning.I then purchased the version of this motor with the 46mm shaft. It fit with room to spare and the base went back on easily. I’ve had my fiber optic tree running for a week now. I’m happy I repaired it. It took some trial and error but it’s worth it. The family is so happy it’s turned on again.

These are awesome little motors if you know what to use them for. Great product .

For those of you also helping a friend and starting off with the wrong power supply, this works, but with the RIGHT power supply. The picture shows which power supply I used. Understand that AC/DC power supplies will not work. It HAS to be AC (or show VAC after the number next to Output). After connecting you may have to give it a little nudge at first, but then you'll be good to go.

Just installed it and working great, I'll give it a few days and get back if there is a problem.Stem height for color wheel is important !!! They have a few options, be sure you order one that is equal or shorter than what you have. I went shorter by about 1/4 inch and works great.AC vs DC, make sure you check what you have !! The website is very helpful.Take a picture of the wiring you have so you have a reference of connections, I turned my old motor over so I could see which wires came directly out of the motor and what they were connected to.It comes with clips, I just used solder.If you have a on / off switch make sure your soldering doesn't touch opposing poles or it won't turn off.It's been A WHILE since I did small soldering and this one caught me !!!!They seem to have good customer service, but I have not used it.Can't beat the price, I would buy it again

We bought this to fix a fiber optic Christmas tree that stopped working. It wasn't an exact match to our original (replaced a 42TYZ, 3-4rpm), but it was the closest we could find and we found reports from others with the same situation that it would work. At first, the replacement didn't seem to work either, so we contacted the seller for assistance, assuming it might be DOA, as we'd seen a couple reviewers claim they received such. They promptly (and courteously/professionally) replied, indicating that each motor is tested at the factory and they helped us figure out that we had somehow swapped the trees original power cord with one that went to an old landline telephone. I have no idea how that happened. Turns out our original motor still works too, but we couldn't see doing a return for our mistake, especially after moveu helped us to figure out what we were doing wrong.We wanted to put it through it's paces during the return window just in case. We've been using it several hours per night for several weeks and it's been working great. It revolves the tree's color wheel a bit faster than the original motor that came with the tree, which is why we like it better. The stem is about a half inch longer than what came with the tree as well. But that wasn't too hard to adjust for with a stack of washers and longer screws, which we already had, as we horde such, never knowing what you might need. The threaded tip, was still an exact match, as were all other specifics including the body size of the motor itself, the alignment holes, etc, which we confirmed before purchase. If not for moveu's helpful assistance our fiber optic tree wouldn't be working this year. Would recommend.

The media could not be loaded. This motor was to repair our fiber optic village which lasted for over 20 years. The motor was a perfect fit and works (which is why it gets 3 stars), but it is LOUD! You couldn't hear the old one. This one has a constant hum and is frequently followed by loud clicks and grinding noises. I'm betting this motor doesn't last nearly as long as the original. Too bad quality parts are so hard to come by.
