Lightweight and functional
I generally like the Princeton Tec lights- they are light, functional, and decently priced- I have the Switch Rail light as well and it's served me well while hunting. In the past I've used a different headlamp with a usb charging battery, but recently I found myself in a position where my battery wasn't charged and my lamp wouldn't take normal batteries... this caused me to look for a non-usb charged option... sure, you have to carry extra batteries, but I do that anyway for a number of applications. This headlamp is not the brightest out there, but it is plenty bright for my applications, which are principally confined to walking the dogs at night, household chores that need illumination (under sinks, etc.) and camping/hunting. I've not yet worn out a battery, so I can't speak for the longevity of battery life but it seems fine to me. I like the rotary selector as it can be used with gloved hands a lot easier than a push-button style. I also like that the light comes on as red first, rather than white... this is great for situations where you need a red light like hunting, etc. without ruining your low-light vision on the way there. My only complaint is that the selector labels are on the lamp body and thus move with the lamp if you cant it forward... this means that unless the lamp is in the "straight ahead" position, the labels will be inaccurate for the switch position. This doesn't really matter once you learn the progression of color and brightness, but it is kind of annoying when you first notice it. The switch also feels a little "plastic" (it is) but so far seems to hold up well with normal use.TLDR: Great headlamp at a good price from a good company.

Pretty pretty good
Only drawbacks are the switch is hard to operate with one hand and the battery door is impossible to open and will definitely break soon.

Customer Service Nonexistent
I’ve owned this headlamp since March. Soon after receiving it, the clip holding the strap onto the lamp broke. I reached out to the company to see what they could do. A replacement kit was available and I was told it would ship soon. I am *still* waiting on this kit and every time I look at this headlamp I remember this fact. I’ve reached out to customer service several times and have yet to get a response. I specifically chose to buy this due to the company being based in the USA — this is meaningless now if the product is garbage.

Ridiculously loose switch knob...
First, this headlamp showed up with a different band than pictured. It had the black and grey geometric band instead of the green and black one pictured. Okay... no big deal. However the knob switch for the settings was terribly loose to the point where I could turn it with the strap. Absolutely unacceptable for something you need to rely on in the dark. Any brush against other gear could turn it on potentially killing its batteries or killing your night vision. I saw somebody else on here complaining about it being too stiff and would like to know if he wants to trade, because that's far less of an issue than this.

Great Light, switch is very stiff
Loved the variable light modes, but the switch is really tough to turn, especially with one hand. After a full day of sailing, halfway through the night I was unhappy with how much force it took to turn the switch. If you're not turning on and off or between modes often, or have great grip strength endurance, it's a great light.

Non functional garbage.
Junk. Barely used it, treated gently, suddenly refuses to turn on. Choose something else

My son wears these all around the house
These are fantastic for anyone needing a headlamp. I got this for my son for Christmas, and he loves it and wears it all the time.
