A great follow up to Super Metroid
A lot of people are calling it the next Super Metroid. It is and it isn’t. It’s the next best thing to Super Metroid but has its flaws. Movement is a dream, presentation is awesome, but while the audio is great the music takes a hit. Not anything really memorable. Map wise it’s a big game but it’s not really an intuitive world. Lots of elevators, transporters, and trains. In other words lots of loading. Not a problem in and of itself but it breaks the flow that super Metroid had. Hidden items are also spread thin; a missile upgrade is worth 2 missiles, there are full energy tank upgrades but also a few that are split into 4 parts. It just feels like they didn’t have a solid plan with the hidden upgrades. Bosses are weak in my opinion. The EMMI is a neat addition that never really gets fleshed out. Bosses are essentially bullet sponges with quick time events. Finally, I don’t like the control layout which could be fixed with control options. This game does not have that so you get what they give you.BUT even with all of these flaws, this is a must have game. It’s still Metroid and Mercury Steam did a bang up job. Hopefully their next effort will fix these issues but until then this a great diversion until Prime 4 hits.

Fantastic mix of thrills and action
Metroid Dread very quickly climbed my list of favorite games. The E.M.M.I.s feel omnipresent and like they shouldn't be messed with, but not in a way that makes the players feel small. There are TONS of abilities, and I thought it might be overwhelming, but they're stacked on fairly slowly and the controls are intuitive, so really it just leaves you feeling powerful. The bosses are intense and feel great to beat, with special cutscenes for melee-countering their powerful moves. The base game was hard enough, but hard mode was even more intense, which I loved. I will say I was hoping for more diverse enemies or attack patterns from bosses when really all hard mode did was significantly increase the damage you took, but it still added to the challenge and made it more enjoyable.9.8/10 game, the only reason it's not 10 is the lack of variety in hard mode.

Great game, but short
This game is so fun, but too short. Not much replay value once you beat it other than the harder new game and speed running to get the concept art rewards. Played it for a good 9 hours before putting it down for good. It’s a fun game, but way too expensive for being so short.

Great addition to the Metroid franchise.
This reminds me of playing the Metroid on the NES and Metroid II on the Gameboy. Added features using the switch controls add more to what Samus can do.

Classic Metroid feel, but fresh story and cool new upgrades!
This game is polished, fun, challenging, and satisfying. It's not that long - don't expect an extensive adventure with weeks of play time - but once you complete the game, you can start over on Hard Mode for a challenge. Definitely a game i could come back to down the road for another playthrough.

One of the greatest, most challenging Metroid games yet
Fantastic game. Controls are well polished, visuals are fantastic, story is engaging, and the game is actually challenging. The boss fights are great and well thought out. The game is about 10 hours long if you have previous Metroid experience. One of, if not the best games in the series.

The Sequel We've Been Waiting For
Near perfect in every aspect, beautiful visuals, intense and challenging gameplay, plenty of diverse and beautiful environments to explore. If you've had fun with a side scrolling Metroid in the past, there is no question, you need this game.
