Q: Does the remote work by “line of sight” or by a frequency?

The remote works via frequency. Mine is hooked to outdoor lights which I can turn on or off from any room in the house.

Q: Has anyone else had trouble plugging into the timer? Plugs will not go in more than halfway. My husband even tried without success.

It does not make any sense did you trying to plug anything else on the female side of the plug? these plugs are all machine made precise you have one leg wider than the other the same in the female plug I do not have any issues the system works very well.

Q: Does the remote require batteries? If it does, what size is the battery?

Mine has the 12 volt, A23G battery.

Q: Can the light sensor be shut off and still use 2 4 6 and 8 our timers?

You have cover sensor then it will work once it’s on it stays on for the 2,4,6,8 hr
