Q: Would these shoes be good and protect my feet for touring Europe- cobblestone roads?

I definitely would not wear these beach pismo casual Vionics on cobblestone roads for a long distance. Like their name suggests, they are better designed for beach wear and more casual walking.

Q: Do these shoes stretch out over time? A 5 M is not wide enough for me but 6 is often too long.

I have purchased 3 pair of these particular Vionics and all 3 pairs have stretched some. Unfortunately, it is hard to tighten them because the shoe laces aren’t really designed to tighten. Or, at least, I haven’t found a way to tighten them. I still like these vionics, but am disappointed in this flaw.

Q: Is this good for traveling?

I would say NO. I hope to find out that mine are defective. I wore them at an amusement park yesterday. Just like your neighborhood streets and sidewalks, the surfaces were a mix of asphalt and concrete. About 13,000 steps later, the soles are peeling and shredded. NOT something you’d expect from Vionics, considering I have shoes from 2004 I still wear. Another pair of sandals have seen 3 countries and hundreds of thousands of steps with minimal wear on the soles. The soles falling apart on a walking shoe? Not good.

Q: Are the raw edges on the top of the shoe irritating?

Absolutely not! I don’t have the boule fabric, but the canvas ones have the raw edges too, and I do not notice it at all. In fact, the material used inside the shoe that touches the top of your foot is extremely soft. These supportive sneakers have really helped my plantar fasciitis get better!
