Goes PERFECTLY With My Home Automation
I couldn’t be happier with this ecowitt sensor. Setup was quick and hassle-free --> it paired easily with my ecowitt gateway (the gateway is what is tied to my home automation). I actually keep this sensor in my freezer to prevent food spoilage incase there is a problem with the power or freezer. The readings are accurate and update frequently, and the build quality feels solid. I especially appreciate how compact and low-profile the sensor is --> it's easy to mount or tuck away without being obtrusive. The battery life so far has been excellent as well.If you're looking for a reliable and flexible way to expand your home climate monitoring, this sensor is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!

Great product. Setup isn't too bad. Paired with ecowitt soil moisture sensor makes keeping track of plants dry back. The data graph is amazing. It has really help me dial in a good watering schedule.

A must-have device for any grower!
I have tried sooooo many moisture meters from really cheap crap with double metal rods that show light intensity, moisture, and soil pH which is always inaccurate, single metal rod by XLUX company and those are reliable and very accurate but you have to poke the soil in multiple places which damages roots, also used the Blumat $90 meter which is way overpriced and it only shows the moisture without any graph 📈 or remote Bluetooth or Wi-Fi capabilities, and bunch of other ones that were always showing wrong readings until someone told me to try these Ecowitt WH51 and WH51L sensors. The WH51 model is great and shows moisture levels from the top 7 inches of soil which is great for all types of pots up to 7 to 10 gallons. The beauty about this Wi-Fi Gateway is that you have access to the data from anywhere in the world and it comes with graphs that show previous readings that you can compare and dial in your watering habits for better performance. You can add up to 8 devices per each GW1100 Wi-Fi Gateway and it comes with an app as well as their website and you can set up alerts to come in through the app as well as get an email when soil goes below your indicated level which is very very useful. Now when it comes to raised beds and 20 gallon containers I have to purchase the WH51L model which comes with a probe attached to 1 meter long cable which allows you to use them in deep pots/beds/containers and they can also be connected to the same Wi-Fi Gateway. Both models are very accurate. The Wi-Fi gateway also has a temperature and humidity and pressure sensor which gives you readings of the room where the sensor is located. I plugged mine in inside my grow room next to my grow tents to monitor the temperature and humidity inside that room to make sure my grow tents are in an optimal environment. I can't say enough good things about Ecowitt. Customer service is very helpful and very responsive. The only thing I did not like is that they are based in China and you can't really call them and the only method of communication is via email but like I said they are very helpful and responsive. If you haven't tried this company yet then don't waste your money on anything else and do yourself a favor get this Wi-Fi gateway along with the moisture meters and anything else you might need because you won't be disappointed. I will surprised that they are so inexpensive and work so great. I mean when comparing to the Blumat meter that cost $90 it's like comparing apples to oranges because for $90 it should be able to do more, at least have remote capability but it doesn't even have that option. In my opinion it's extremely overpriced and these Ecowitt devices without a doubt are blowing away Blumat meters. I hope this helps.

Blinking Lights
I hated I had to buy this for a ecowit product that said it was already WiFi capable, but it did fix the connection issue. This is small enough to hide behind a frame or something big so it’s not seen. The blinking light at night can be kind of annoying though.

Good basic hub
I bought this to bring my Ecowitt outdoor thermometer online. I didn’t quite understand the installation instructions so I have a little bit of trouble getting it online, but it turned out to be really easy once I figured it out. It works really well. The software display is good But a little sparse. I am planning on adding a wind gauge in the near future.

Great product, but you need to understand a few things...
Ecowitt really got this design almost perfect, but to avoid misunderstandings you should know basically how it works. You must have Ecowitt's gateway and you must have wifi. You buy one gateway and up to 8 remote sensors.- Ecowitt sells different kinds of remote sensors which measure and report all sorts of things.- The gateway is shipped with one remote temp/humidity sensor.- Even if a sensor reports multiple things, like temp and humidity, it only counts as one of your 8 sensors.- The gateway itself has three onboard sensors (temp, humidity and barometric pressure) which do not count against your 8 sensor limit. Perfect for travelers and snowbirds to monitor the temp in the house while away. All the various remote sensors communicate with the gateway via packet radio (RF). The gateway connects wirelessly to the sensors and also to your local wifi. Then the gateway (1) communicates with the phone APP over local wifi, and (2) communicates with the website over the public internet. There are several websites you can use; I used ecowitt.net and it's great.Sensor data is then viewable on the phone APP and also on the website. The website has way more capabilities than the APP. I only use the website. One neat feature is to name the sensors, so instead of "Sensor 3" it can say "Baby's room", "Greenhouse #1" or "Elderly grandma's house in Michigan". You can set alarms so that it emails you if a sensor reading reaches limits that you set - for example, email me if the sensor in the barn gets below 40 or above 80 degrees F. (Would be nice if it could text you). You can set multiple limits on a given sensor. You can also specify which time zone to use, temp in Celsius or Farenheit, wind speed in km/hour or miles/hour and lots more. The phone APP- Shows you the latest sensor data- Only works if the phone is within range of your local wifi- If you take the phone out of wifi range the APP goes blank. When you return, it reconnects and starts updating again- Does not show you ads or anything except your sensor data- If you stop the APP on your phone, you have to push a button on the gateway when you restart itThe website- Requires that you make an account- Shows you the latest sensor data- Also shows historical data, recent min/max temperatures and customizable graphs. The graphs are excellent.- Can be accessed from anywhere- Can be accessed via phone, tablet, laptop, etc.- Can be accessed from multiple phones, laptops, etc. at the same time- Does not show you ads or anything except your sensor data- When setting up a new phone or laptop to access the website, be sure to log out everywhere else before you add the new device or you'll get a cryptic "Error - is now in use" message. Then you can re-log back into the website with your other devices.A common reviewer complaint is that this thing won't work unless you let it access your location. But I didn't allow this, so it asked me to manually select my location from a map, so I selected some town in China. Ecowitt almost blew it but for this lame work-around. A related option is to make your sensor data public so various weather websites (like WeatherUnderground.com) can add it to their sensor networks, so maybe that's why it wants your location. I didn't allow that and it works fine. But on the website be sure to uncheck the box for "Public data". Ecowitt listen up: public should NOT be the default.
