So “the concrete wave” is an amazing book - passion, history, interviewsThis is like an uncritical advertorial with chapter after chapter of the sort of writing LLMs knock out and people who write advertorials promote (or fear).In the amazing “the most fun thing” by Kyle Beachy (a far better hook about contemporary skating) he bemoans how there is no real journalism or critical voices in skateboard writing. This book exemplifies that - if you want to read a bunch of promotional facts interspersed by hyperbole and hackneyed cliches then you will gain a sense of all the people “keeping it real” then you’ll get that. If you want to know what why if it meant… look elsewhere.
