Outstanding and well worth the $180. We installed a new water heater and the rotten egg odor was horrible. I was going to pull the magnesium anode rod and replace it with aluminum, but then read that aluminum doesn't work well with soft water. So, I bought the Corro-Protec , plugged it in and it IMMEDIATELY eliminated the hydrogen sulfide that was produced by the stock anode rod. It has been working for nearly half a year and is supposed to last the life of the water heater.

Product arrived ahead of scheduled date. Relatively simple device but it is made of quality material with 20 year warranty. That should make it worth the price. Exceptional packaging, straight forward literature and very good company website; gives the impression this is a well run company. New well and water heater, extremely hard water (luckily no smell) to the extent that electrodes made a boiling sound when heating. After installing powered anode and before the tank came up to temperature the sound had decreased to almost nothing. Time will tell, but as long as the green light is on it will be far superior to conventional anodes for my situation.

First of all I bought the "Bradford White" version of this kit that comes with the extra "y" pipe because a lot of bradfords use the hot water outlet that is also the anode rode. The vast majority of other water heaters use a stand alone anode that does not need the "y" pipe. With that in mind, my hot water had a sulfur smell from the corrosion of the anode. I replaced the heavily corroded anode with a different type of material and it made an improvement but the smell was still present. I was told the powered anode was what I needed so I bought this. The 2nd anode was not as corroded as the first one. This Corro-Protec has only been in for 2 weeks but as of right now the smell is gone. When I first plugged it in I was confused why I didn't see the light on the plug turn on. After reading the instructions I realized that I had to refill the water level in the tank until the rod was touching the water for it to work.
