Even with these imperfections the recorded image quality is excellent. The included power cord is easy
The media could not be loaded. Edited below to explain the poor quality of the included video. I'm sorry, I hoped it would be a better quality result to show what it records. Unfortunately, compression has made it very useless for that. Pros:Clear, high resolution recordingWide angle lens. The camera shows the front quarter panel of cars that are directly next to me. It also shows cars crossing at intersections.Always on (except when it isn't, see Additional comments below)Records two separate video streams, one from each lens.Records sound (with front lens only)Loop recording to avoid problems with full storage card.Power that depends on the cigarette/power socket. (also listed as a con)Cons:There are situations that will cause this not to record. (see Additional comments) If you understand why, you'll be okay.Power that depends on the cigarette/power socket. (also listed as a pro)Additional comments:I showed clips of my recording to co-workers and they were all impressed with the clarity of the image. My windshield is old and has imperfections that show up in the recording as darker blemishes in the image in most situations, or other smaller bright spots with light shining directly into the glass. However, this is a problem with the glass in my car and not the recorder. Even with these imperfections the recorded image quality is excellent. The included power cord is easy. Just plug it in and feed the wire around and you're ready to record. I didn't want to use my only power outlet for this, so I ordered a separate hard wire kit. I connected it into the wiring the supplies power to that outlet, behind the console. It is completely hidden except where it comes out from the head liner to the ARECORD. For ease of use the included power supply is great. For a professional look that leaves the power socket available for other uses, I would recommend a hard wire kit.It will record close to two hours with both lenses before filling a 16GB card. At that point, it will remove older files and continue to record. Saved or protected files are written to a folder named RO, which I expect means Read Only. The ARECORD will not remove these files, so as you have more files in the RO folder you will have less time before cycling over the rest of the files. Go with the recommendation in the manual and re-format the card every month or so, so that it has the whole card available to record. Your card will last longer with this maintenance. Just be sure to save any important files to your computer before the format. As I mentioned above, there are situations where this unit will not record. They boil down to a single problem, power interruption to the unit. For example, if you install this into a manual transmission vehicle, and you are a little careless in stop-n-go traffic to the point that you stall the engine ( or if you have a teenage driver who hasn't quite mastered starting from a full stop, or if you have mechanical problems that cause the engine to stall, you turn the key to the on position, but delay more than 6 seconds before starting the engine, etc. ), it will continue recording right up to the point of turning the key to start or restart the engine. The starter draws enough power that the voltage drops (lights dim and other behaviors show this). The ARECORD recognizes this and behaves as if the car had powered off. Once the engine has started and full voltage is restored, the ARECORD is still in the process of powering down, or possibly something else is happening, and it fails to recognize that the power is back on at full and recording will not continue until action is taken. You may either press the power button on the unit, or you may cut and restore power again to turn it back on. I would request a firmware update from the manufacturer to resolve this. It could be as simple as logic that requires the power be off for a few seconds before starting the power off routine.I have attached a video with some clips that I have recorded. In at least one of the clips the year in the time stamp shows 2050 rather than 2016. That was my mistake in configuring it and I corrected it. It maintains the correct time between drives and shows the time on the recording (unless you disable that in the settings menu). The video shows image quality in different lighting conditions. All audio is recorded with the video by the ARECORD dash camera, and has not been modified. Hopefully, the original 1080P resolution is maintained as I upload it for this review. I will be disappointed if the uploaded video shows a lower quality image, because what I recorded is very clear. I did not include any rear camera views in this file.EDIT: I am not satisfied in the quality of the video file as it is in this review. The file I prepared is very clear to look at, while the video file presented here is very poor by comparison. I understand the reason for this, and I'm not surprised that it was done. Basically, to save space the video was compressed and contrast and resolution appear to have been reduced from the original video I submitted. This is pretty standard for most any on-line submission. Unfortunately, it makes the video almost useless as a basis for seeing how well the product works.

Not worth it.
Purchased in March of 2019.To my own ignorance this is the 3rd one of these I’ve purchased. The first one was not the same model and basically died in the direct sunlight. I have two vehicles and have two separate units. The other vehicles one stopped working shortly after the return or replace date was up. I wrote a bad review and for a short time I was asked to remove my review several times by email. With the offer of a return or some sort of corrective conditions. I never did thinking maybe I got a bad unit. This one works continually in the sunlight. It captured decent footage for the price. However! Recently I was nearly involved in a major auto accident from not one but two cars running a red light. Shaken up I went home to see if I could look at exactly what happened. Did the signal lights malfunction? Or did I jump the light myself? I was curious to see.To my surprise nothing was captured at all! I can see myself leaving that morning to work. The entire drive to work. Activities around my vehicle at work and me leaving work.I don’t no if sitting at the light waiting for a safe time to turn deactivated recording mood. But I would think motion would have captured the other vehicles speeding threw the lights. But it did not capture anything. So what good is it?At this juncture in the road there all trash and so is more then $300.00 I’m now looking for a better more reliable replacement for my vehicles.

Arecord B40D Dual Camera
Works ok most of the time. Sometimes it stops working in the middle of a drive. I noticed a couple of times the lights on the camera were off. When I went to review some video from driving and it was missing. I hard wired the camera to a 12v supply so I don't suspect a loose connection at the cigarette lighter plug. Night time video is very grainy but for the price what can you expect. I haven't hooked up the rear camera yet so can't comment on that.

Recording at night is terrible, especially from the rear view camera
I've had this dashcam for several months. Recording at night is terrible, especially from the rear view camera. My rear view camera reverses everything and the company never responded to my email inquiries. Nevertheless, this dashcam is reliable and gives excellent daylight footage.

I like this dash cam
I like this dash cam. Easy to mount and to operate. Good picture quality. Would recommend and likely to by another one.

Great front camera
Great front camera. Poor rear one. In addition, the rear camera regularly falls off the window, as the adhesion between the adhesive and the metallic support is not very good.

Worth it.
When the insurance company says there's nothing they can do because the accident happened on "private property" (a business' parking lot) and you tell them you have a dash cam, it makes it all worth it.

stay away
after accident happened I went to look at the video when I crashed the mirror with somebody illegally parked but the camera was recording sometimes 10 seconds sometimes 1 minute or 5 minutes files with pauses of not recording anything at all from 10 to 30 seconds between files. and of course , everything happened after finished to record one file and started to record the next one. it was useless piece of junk that didn't do when it was needed the most.

Good but not working when cold
Edit : lowered to 2 stars, as it became worse in winter, it wouldn't work at -6 C, Which is not cold. I had to unplug it and plug it back a few times as the cabin warmed up after driving for a while.Original review : I like the fact that it's small compared to a lot of other ones + the dual cam feature. BUT, when -13°C and colder, it shuts off right after booting. So i consider this a not so cold operation capacity, which is quite a let down when it actually says that it's built for winter.
