Works like it should
My old disposal was leaking and also seizing up on me. So I knew I had to replace it with a new one. I got this one because I liked all the features it had with it. It was pretty easy to install and wire in. It works good and does a good job at clearing out all the debris. It’s not real loud when being used as well. The frame and the drain part seem to be very durable and made well. It did not weight a lot so putting it into place wasn’t bad. I did install this alone with no help. The motor is pretty powerful and does its job with ease.I would not a problem with buying this disposal again if I needed another one.

Small, Energy Efficient, Quiet, Powerful and at a Great Price...What more could you want?
Installed this on a cast iron sink, which is thicker than most, so this should install on any sink. I would suggest using plumbers putty instead of the rubber gasket supplied for the drain flange. This will eliminate any possibility of leaking.Took me about an hour to install because the connection of the disposal to the flange is slightly different than I have seen before. Directions were OK, but took a little studying to be sure I was doing it correctly. Would probably take me about 20 minutes to install if I had to do another one. It is really that easy. All of my former units were hard wired. This has a plug, so I just added a female socket to my Romex. In about 5 minutes, it was plugged in. You can get one of these from any hardware store or big box. With respect to the few people that said their plumber had trouble or could not install this unit...I would call the Mario Brothers, as they probably have better training and could install this while they were jumping over turtles and grabing coins. One other observation that some people may care about that is not clear from the picture above: the sink flange is bright, shiny metal, not the brushed, dull metal look I have found on most disposals. If this does not meet your decor, I believe you can buy a brushed metal flange, but check that out before you buy this model. What I like about this unit:1) Small. Takes up about one half of the space of my former unit. Largely because of the permanent magnet.2) Uses very little electricity. Hooked it up to a Kill-A-Watt meter, and it read 70 watts while running.3) Quiet. I asked my wife to listen to how quiet this is. She said turn it on. I said it IS on! Seriously, it is that quiet while running. I tested it with a decibel meter at a distance from the sink to my ears, and it registered 60-65 decibels! For those of you who are not familiar with the scale, this is about the loudness of a normal conversation. From 10 feet away the decibel reading dropped to about 40 Dbs. You would have a hard time telling it was running with normal background noise. It sometimes does make a louder clicking sound when turned on, but only for a fraction of a second. Now, that decibel level is without any food being ground. It is about 5 Dbs higher while grinding depending what you put into it.4) As far as grinding power, it appears as good or better than the 3/4 HP I replaced. We compost, so we put very little food waste down a disposal, largely out of concern for the environment and our sewer lines. But I tested it with a chicken leg bone, and it was gone in about 10 seconds.5) Stainless steel interior components should help it to last a long time.So unless you grind a lot food waste, this unit should be more than you would need at a very reasonable price.

Small, Quiet, Powerful!
I'm getting used to changing out garbage disposals every couple of years. I have been changing brands as well but made sure to keep the same 3 prong mounting bracket intact so an easy changeout can happen. This disposal is not only the smallest, lighest and easiest to install but its more powerful than what I have been using. Upon initial installation, I was amazed how quiet this disposal is. I threw a few small chicken bones in for its test run and I could barely hear it working. I was worried because of the competitive price of this 1/2 horsepower unit was far below the major brand I have been using, but once installation was completed, and reading through the literature, I realized that smaller and lighter doesn't necessarily mean less powerful. And with the 3-prong mounting bracket already installed, mounting it took just a few minutes. Has a reset switch on front of unit clearly visible, does not have a available way to manually turn the inside blades as others do. Booklet with Clear Directions and Accessories available included in factory shipping box.5Stars

Good product- priced right- poor Amazon packaging.
Easy to install, took less than 30 minutes all in. GD is quieter than the one it replaced, but that said, I would not exactly call it "quiet". Seems to work well--can't speak to the longevity since I just installed it. Appears about as well made as other more expensive disposers. My only issue was the GD was packaged on top of the plumbers putty that came with it. As can be expected, the plumbers putty container was squeezed/ crushed and the top was off. Glad it was in a plastic bag or would have been a real mess. Whomever is packaging items for shipment, this is an issue as it's the third product purchased from amazon in the last week that arrived poorly packaged in a manner that makes no sense.

Great replacement for Insinkerator Badger 5
Bought the 3/4 hp slimline to replace an Insinkerator Badger 5; it is compatible so everything lined up for an easy installation. The unit feels solid, it fits nicely under the sink and it is surprisingly quiet. We love that it comes with a stainless steel stopper for the sink and a removable rubber splash guard for easy cleaning as well as a magnetic ring to help stop utensils from falling in and causing damage. It comes with a 10 year warranty. Hopefully we won't need to use the warranty but if we do, fingers crossed on having a good customer experience. Overall, great value for the price.

Super easy install, already has a power cord, quiet, less money - good buy
Why spend nearly double on the brand name? This disposer works great. Super easy install: attached directly to the old Insinkerator flange so I did not need to mess with all that. Plus this disposer is much quieter than my old one. First time I’ve replaced a disposer without having to wire a power cord to the unit!
