These work for the most part. I have replacement windows with those flimsy vent locks that basically break as soon as you use them. I like to have the fresh air in the house at night, and these give me a little peace of mind cause they do work for the most part. I say for the most part, because for some reason, a couple of them don't seem to stick to the fluffy velcro side as well as the others do. They slide when others stay firmly put. Not really sure why, I have examined them and they seem the same, but I bought enough so every window at the ground level has at least one that is solid and that seems to do the trick. If someone is determined to get in, they will. Nothing short of metal bars will stop them. But for the casual smash and grab type these will give enough trouble that they will likely give up and move on before drawing too much attention to themselves.

These are great and easy to install. Downside, if you have a curious kid that climbs windows to get to the lock I would purchase something else.My son is 3 and he built steps, climbed up the window, removed himself and opened the window. I walked in the room and he was sticking his head out signing to "the birds"! This all happened in minutes.... he didnt have much time to sneak up there. But, according to my friends their boys arent this curious where my son takes everything apart bc its "cool". Maybe we have an engineer in the making hahahah we ended up buying the locks that screw in to the frame. No issues since.

I like these! Certainly a determined thief or determined child can overcome them, but they do the basic job. I did replace the hook and loop fastener with longer strips of industrial Strength Velcro. Now they can be adjusted between reinforcing the lock on a closed window - all the way to locking the upper and lower sashes together with a gap for fresh air.

This item is as described. It came quickly and is easy to install. We purchased these for a condo, as we did not want our 3 yr old grand child to have access to opening the window. Once installed they seemed very strong and stood in place. Can be easily removed by an adult in case of emergency.

Easy to install and keeps my kid from climbing out of the window. The only negative is that I have wood windows that open vertically, and they tend to stick when I try to close them.

I have a two story house with windows all over the downstairs.. they are large enough that i could walk thru them if i wanted to. i purchased these for baby-proofing reasons AS WELL AS security.. and once installed, I slammed the window open as quickly and as hard as i could, and they didnt open any farther than the wedges allowed. great too is that they come with velcro strips that can adjust how open or closed the window is.

I thought it would stop the window from going up. With enough light force, the wedge would be pushed up.

these work very well to keep our windows from being opened beyond the level we have placed them. i love that you can move them depending on how far you want to open your window. easy way to add some security without too much time or damage to your windows.
