Fell in love with Adam and Rowan
Wow was that really a debut novel? I am in love with Adam freakin Everest and his Peach, Rowan Michaels!Rowan is young but she has been in a relationship with pastor's son Brady for 3 years. Now that she is starting college and they have moved in together she is hoping that things will finally progress to the next level and she can convince him to forget the whole waiting for marriage idea. When he is away on a business trip, she agrees let her best friend Dee get her all glammed up to see a band and do some dancing. She is shocked and devastated to see Brady at the club clearly with another woman and making no effort to hide his PDAs with her.Trying to escape without Brady realizing she is there, she runs outside where the band's smokin' lead singer Adam finds her when he comes outside to smoke a cigarette. They strike up a conversation and he takes her back to the tour bus so she can calm down. He puts the moves on her but immediately backs off when she puts the brakes on, keeping things at a heated make out session only. He wants to see her after the show but when she has a minor freak out to Dee over Brady, they bail before the show is over- and Rowan keeps her Adam encounter to herself, knowing Dee will hit the stratosphere in glee since she never liked Brady and she is completely in lust with Adam herself.Ro can't get those kisses out of her head, slightly mortified at herself for her actions and for enjoying it far more than anything she felt for Brady lately. When Adam walks into her class, she is floored but she hides rather than talking to him. She is sure he wouldn't remember her in her normal state rather than the vamped up version of her he met at the club, and she is definitely sure she can't compete with the groupies constantly hanging off him. Yet when he finds himself in trouble with the professor, she takes a chance and offers to tutor him before their big exam. Since he has shows all weekend, he invites her to come on the tour bus with him and the guys for the weekend, having no idea that she is the girl he dubbed Peach- who is also the only girl to ever turn him down. After a swift kick in the seat of the pants by Dee and new friend Leti, Ro finds herself with Adam, his best friend Shawn, and the other 3 bandmates Joel, Mike and Cody having the time of her life. After friend zoning Adam again, she finds that there is a great guy hiding under the player persona- and she never realizes that although he accepts her friends request on the surface, he is secretly working toward much more, even when he takes on her ex- dirtbag in her defense.Shawn, who figured out her identity since he met her that night as well, drunkenly forces her hand into telling Adam her secret. As she finds herself falling for him in spite of herself, she is terrified he will break her heart worse than Brady and pushes him away yet again. Cue more tap dancing around each other and things left unsaid. But I mostly just loved Adam for the way he handled skittish Rowan- he was careful not to push her too hard but gave her enough attention that she should have realized he wanted her, not the groupies- and he was showing them the same thing. This was a really well written and enjoyable debut! I needed a feel good read and this one certainly fit the bill. I loved the other guys in the band- with the exception of Cody, he just annoyed me- and Dee and Leti were wonderful additions to the story. Now I will be waiting for Riot to release in a few weeks for Dee and Joel's story- based on what I saw in Mayhem, those two are going to give each other quite a run!

Fun, light read!
Mayhem is the story of Rowan Michaels who tries to get over her cheating boyfriend with bad boy rock star, Adam Everest. Of course, Adam is the guy every girl wants, and of course he doesn’t do commitment. For me, Mayhem was a fun read that really held my attention and made me laugh, but it had its ups and downs. On one hand, I really didn’t care for Adam AT ALL. But, that’s just me. Despite what the blurb on the cover says, provided by the amazing Jay Crownover, not every girl has a rock star fantasy. There is nothing about the idea of a rock star – or any celebrity for that matter – that I find attractive. Since Adam is the stereotypical rock star, I wasn’t interested. None of the characteristics Rowan found so irresistible about Adam made him attractive to me. I want a guy like my husband. The kind I can bring home to my parents and the kind who not only treats me with respect, but treated all women with respect even before we started dating. The way Adam allowed women to hang all over him, then just brushed them aside when he was done was just plain despicable. He was a jerk and it annoyed me that Rowan was too blinded by how hot he was to really see it. She repeatedly referred to how perfect he is, constantly calling the girls hanging all over him sluts, but saw nothing wrong with how he was behaving! It’s the worst kind of double standard. Girls who act interested in no-strings-attached sex are whores. Guys who do it are hot. Why? Even more annoying was that her best friend Dee did a lot of the same things, but that was okay…it just boggled my mind!Honestly, the only thing Adam did the ENTIRE book that I found hot was when he punched Brady. Which was super-hot.Having said all that, I sailed through this book. Jamie Shaw is a fantastic writer, and she was able to hold my attention from start to finish with no problem, which is saying a lot because I typically get bored when reading NA contemporary romance. Especially one featuring a love interest like this one. Not only that, but I had a grin on my face most of the time. The character’s interactions were adorable – yes, even Adam who I didn’t like – and it was a fun atmosphere. While Adam wasn't my new book boyfriend, he did have some sweet moments with Rowan, and I liked what a gentleman he was with her. He was a good friend and there when she needed him, and eventually decided to be a stand-up guy.I didn’t get the copycat vibe some people referred to. While there were a few small similarities between the story in Mayhem and Beautiful Disaster, it wasn’t major. Adam may have been a jerk (in my opinion), but he wasn’t a hot-headed psychopath. Yes, the nickname thing was similar, but lots of people give each other nicknames, so that’s just silly. Jamie McGuire doesn’t own a monopoly on that. (If you didn’t like it, stay away from my book that comes out in May!) If I hadn’t seen a couple reviews comparing the two books, I doubt I would have even thought about it. The stories were very different.Even though I didn’t care for Adam and had a few small issues with the story, it’s just a personal preference and wouldn’t deter me from recommending this book at all. In fact, I have recommended it to friends already, because I thought it was an enjoyable read. I even bought the second book and plan to read the third when it comes out. It’s a big thing when an author can hold my attention with a contemporary story, so in my book that a HUGE win for Jamie Shaw!

A MELHOR SURPRESA!

Light fun rocker romance
Mayhem, unlike so many romances these days, is written entirely from the POV of Rowan our virginal college freshman who's striving terribly hard not to fall for rocker Adam Everest. She knows he's a player, he doesn't even bother denying it, and after getting her heart broken in the first chapter by her long term high school sweetheart, she's just that little bit too smart to go diving into something that has "trainwreck" written all over it.So while she has a very special encounter with Adam straight after catching out her boyfriend, she's determined to leave it at that. Her resolve isn't helped any by him turning up in her French class on a regular basis, but that's at least mitigated by him not recognizing her. Then of course comes the point where the rubber hits the road (and so does the band). Overhearing that Adam is about to be failed, she brazenly jumps in to save his bacon, telling their professor that she's already started tutoring him and will be doing more over the weekend before the big test coming up.After the professor is placated, Adam points out the hitch in her plan. The band is touring all weekend, so the only way for her to tutor him is to come with.A really nice story about a guy learning to be friends with a girl while the girl learns to let go with the guy.

Fun but not for me
I enjoyed this - I read it in one sitting and I was thoroughly entertained by the vast majority of it. But there was a lot of misogynistic language and OW content that outright upset / annoyed me or just wasn’t my cup of tea. It wasn’t at all the novel I expected it to be - it was far messier than I anticipated. Overall I just had a lot of mixed feelings about it, and I think it just wasn’t really the book for me. I’d recommend it if you want a new adult rockstar romance with a friends-to-lovers trope, but I’d avoid it if you’re bothered by any kind of OW / OM drama.

Fantastic Debut Novel
Brilliant debut novelI love rock romance and this was so sweet.Girl has night out, Adam, swoon, rock star finds her crying after finding her boyfriend cheating they have a connection, he has to go back on set asks her to meet him after but she leaves. It's like a cinderella scenarioFor weeks he looks for her gave her the name peaches but she never shows. Its so sweet and intense when she finds out shes in the same class as him surrounded by his groupies he doesn't notice the nerdy girl in glasses is the same girl hes been searching for.I loved it for its sweetnes the anticipation the great characters the boys in the band and their banter and for getting me to keep turning the pages not wanting to put it down.Yes I will read the next book, Dee was a spitfire and I look forward to her story.Really enjoyed it.Reviewed by BBF Goodreads https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/142639-best-book-boyfriends
