This is the one to get--best book on the subject, nice simplified update from the original
Shepherd has long been recognized as a top researcher and clinician in this area, and her books are well written and easy to understand as well as not complicated to follow. I read the first when it was newly published, and decided to read this one as well, and it is every bit as good in terms of the subject, and the presentation is improved in that it spells out more of the nuances. Regardless of which book you choose, you do need to do the elimination part of the diet to figure out which of these foods are problems for you.(One review here said the information presented in this book is poor, which surprised me very much, so I read the book they recommended. I cannot understand how they would come to that conclusion, given that their recommended book says the exact same things as this one--very standard presentation of fodmaps, what they are, and how the diet works. But on top of that, this other author has a really annoying writing style that appears to have been directed at people who think adult is a verb and that adulting is hard--"Can I really do this? Help me calm down, please!" Seriously--which is how I could not take that other book.)

Beautiful pictures, great recipes, but info wise not the best out there
This is a good book, but I'm giving it 3 stars because info wise there are better & more simplified books out there. As for the beauty of the book, I would give it a 5. The pictures and colors are gorgeous & recipes are great too, but if you want a complete, simple, easy to understand and follow plan I would recommend "Healthy Gut, Flat Stomach" by Danielle Capalino.

So it is always a good idea to have as much information as you can ...
The book has a lot of advice. There are so many books out on FODMAP Diet, it is difficult to find a book that covers everything. Since the price is right on most of these books. I have been purchasing a few different. The FODMAP diet can be a difficult diet, especially when introducing foods back into your diet. So it is always a good idea to have as much information as you can before you start.

I have a great Gastroenterologist who suggested this diet and it's made a huge difference in my life.This book is really a good reference for beginners.

Best book for begginers
If you're lost and trying to understand about the low FODMAP diet, if it is for you and how to manage it: this is the best book you can find.Believe me, I looked a lot. The author not only explains it easily, she also gives ideas of a full week menu and the recipes. All this made my life so much easier

If you’re FODMAPing, read this book!
I read this cover to cover. It is very well written and presented in a way that clearly explains the FODMAP diet and principles. It enabled me to successfully follow the plan under my doctors direction. I found the value of this book was the information, weekly meal plans for the initial elimination and reintroduction stages, and shopping tips. She also includes information for children and vegans. I’m an America’s Test Kithcen fan and with the guidance from this book I can modify my favourite recipes. The recipes in this book are a bonus, really. They’re good and she gives you alternates for reintroduction stages. I found some to be a bit fussy (worthy of company). As FODMAP tends to require a lot of at home prep, my preference is toward pantry ingredients and quick, simple prep.

Fantastic informative book! I bought this for my sister as she struggles terribly with IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) and it’s massively helped her!

Finally a book that tells me exactly what to do
This book is great cause it has all the information you could ever want or need. It tells you how to substitute things based on your own individual needs and how to even find out what your own individual needs are. It saves a lot of headache by adding exact measurements that are appropriate and how to incorporate the same recipes for different steps in your experiments. Would definitely recommend to anyone struggling with IBS.

Sound, easy to follow guide to Low-FODMAP Diet
It provided clear and easily understood information about the rationale for the low FODMAP diet and how to follow it. I would be happy to recommend this to my patients.
