Resident Evil 5 - Standard Edition - PlayStation 4

Let me start by saying I've never really understood the hate this game has garnered over the years. For some reason, it's generally not held in the same lofty regard as RE4 and that's a shame since the games are both terrific in their own right but also have a lot in common. This is a darn good game and I personally think it's every bit (okay..almost) as great as RE4. I have personally played through this one at least 8 or 9 times and I've probably logged about 4 play-throughs of RE4.I am delighted that Capcom is re-releasing RE4, 5 and 6 on the PS4 this year. I think that is fantastic. It's nice to have one main system to play all my games on and It's great getting to play these old favorites on the PS4 (RE4 & RE5 that is-RE6 is an entirely different matter). Plus-at $20 a pop, you can't go wrong (except for #6 which worth about 50 cents). I wish more companies would do this. I would gladly pay $20 a piece for remastered versions of the Dead Space trilogy, Infamous series or Killzone games.Resident Evil 5 stars "The Man" Chris Redfield and his butt kicking new partner Sheva Almodovar as they rush to stop the spread of the Uroboros virus. Along the way, you'll cross treacherous swamp land, traverse a cavernous underground city, take on a giant tanker ship and reveal some of Umbrella's most deeply hidden secrets. All of this is a blast from beginning to end and almost perfectly paced (outside of some often frustrating and annoying showdowns with Albert Wesker). It's easy to get caught up in "the flow" of this game as the various chapters seem to melt away into an addictive experience that will keep you up late at night.Also included on this disk is all of the previously released DLC. I can't speak for the mercenaries mode (doesn't interest me) but I did get to check out "Lost in Nightmares" and "Desperate Escape" which I had not previously played. After experiencing these two DLC chapters, I'd have to say they're pretty "meh". Lost in Nightmares is the biggest offender. It starts out with lots of potential, but there's really nothing significant about it, and it's over before it really has time to even get going. Desperate Escape was better, but still a little too short for my liking. I think both DLC additions would have benefited from just a little more fleshing out. They just don't feel satisfying and I have no interest in playing them again.Disappointing as they were, the DLC chapters are just the icing on the cake to an otherwise nearly perfectly executed Resident Evil game, and at this price point-it's an absolute steal. $20 is a really fair price for a an old game made new again and more companies should take this approach instead of trying to milk $50 or $60 bucks out of a remaster of an old game. (lookin' right at you Nintendo) To quote Yoda "And THAT is why you fail."High praise to Capcom for not only releasing RE4, 5 & 6 for the PS4 for such a good price, but for the remasters of RE1 and Zero plus the remake of RE2 still on the way. I would love to see the entire series land on PS4 before the next generation hits (Bring on #3 and Code Veronica please). Outside of the occasional misfire, the Resident Evil series has been top notch for me.

I owned this game on my PlayStation 3 and absolutely love it then ( although not as much as resident evil 2).Since I no longer own my PS3 and I realized that I did miss this game - I simply had to get it for my PS4.I do not see that there is much of a graphic difference which is kind of surprising, but not too disappointed in that. I do wish that they took the opportunity to add more costumes or characters or simply something to keep the fans happy and to make the game Worth buying a second time. Ultimately nothing has changed in this version but I must say it is totally worth it if you can challenge your spouse in the co-op play as well as the mercenaries gameplay.It's even better if you can turn the mercenaries section into a drinking game ( that's a personal recommendation for those of you who are 18 or older ;) - I truly wish more games had full co-op play.If you have not play this game and are a resident evil fan I highly recommend adding it to your collection, if you have played this game in the past and are considering replaying again I highly recommend!Now can we please petition for a resident evil 4 remake for the PS4??? I would love to replay that one as well!

Maybe not the best Resident Evil game, but an amazing co op horror action adventure. The Mercenaries mode is endless fun.

I got resident evil 5 when I had my PlayStation 3 and I was hoping that they would make it for PS4 and they did I wish they would do that with other games like under need for speed underground and need for speed the original Sony would make so much more money maybe they just don't care because they have so much money the thing is is that if Sony won't do it an Xbox won't do it and all the other gaming platforms won't do it I promise you if I come across money which I assume will be I will make a gaming system it will be a One gaming system forever with a badass processing chip to allow me to upgrade your systems from being online from a 64-bit to a 96 bit to 128 bit to a 256 bit gaming platform without sacrificing any more money in buying any more systems my system will be the king of all systems it will put Sony out of business and it will put Xbox out of business because my system will communicate with PS4 PS5 Xbox game 5 Nintendo online service because of the frequency that will be built into my system see I have a creative mind and I want things to be badass kick ass sweet and awesome with excellence Sony doesn't know what that is obviously or they would make a system like I'm talking about and either does Xbox or they would do the same it's all about money for them boys I'm looking for people to be happy and have the better of both worlds without buying a system every flip and forward 5 years because I would give a graphic processing update to all my users for just buying my product and buying the games that go to it that's the difference between me and these stingy greedy people out there I wish there were more people like me we can make this real great again but people are stingy and people are greedy and people want more I just need enough to survive that's all I don't care about being a billionaire or even a trillionaire and if I did become that I'd give it back to the people that are in need of it people don't talk like that anymore and that's why this world will never be great again.

I love this game, I got it so my sister and I could play through it together on her Playstation. Great bonding time game. We both highly recommend it as a two player game! (Not many games are great for 2 players that aren't online)
