Great thriller! You won’t be able to put it down!
Freida did it again!!! What a great novel! I would never expect the twist towards the end. I was caught off guard and breathless. What an ingenious development. Definitely would recommend if you like a good psychological thriller. You won’t be disappointed with any of Freida’s book. But this was one of my favorites:-)

Quick fun and twisty!
4.5I really enjoyed this one. I love all her books because they have short chapters, usually alternating viewpoints, and the plots are fun and easy to read packed with a punch and twist at the end you don’t see coming. This one was no different and I really enjoyed the characters and the plot and the big twist!

A little confusing….
This wasn’t your typical psychological thriller with twists and turns. It took a different path completely so you really couldn’t have seen it coming. Instead of an “ohh or Ah-ha!” It was more like “what?” And scratching your head or rubbing your eyes wondering if you missed something. But you didn’t. Frieda likes to play games with her characters and plot. In this book there is a doctor named Joel who breaks up with his Italian girlfriend in the beginning. They’ve been together for many years, lived together and she was expecting a marriage proposal not an exit door. She was devastated and obsessed with getting Joel back. 6 months later he begins dating a new woman who is 10 years younger than he. Her name is Cassie. She owns a dying bookstore. At one date to the zoo and the couple run into Joel’s closest friends. The wife of one of his buddies is extremely rude and does everything she can to make sure Cassie knows she will never compare to Joel’s ex girlfriend Francesca - and even makes the dig that she (Cassie) resembles Francesca but is no where near as pretty. Throughout the book, Cassie feels like she’s being followed, strange things happen to her business and apartment in addition to weird phone calls. All along she thinks it’s Francesca the perfect ex. And then we find out that it’s not at all who you think and nor would you have guessed. Interesting read? Yes but it wasn’t nearly as captivating as some of her other books. So for that reason I give it a 3 ⭐️

Interesting…
Great read, kept me interested. Great plot twist! Felt like the author was trying too hard to make you think one thing to like build up to the twist but still a good read.

One of her best
Thrilling plotline. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars because the end was muddled.

she never fails to amaze me
Wow!! What a turn of events that I was not expecting! I mean, I never know what sort of twists Frieda has in store for any of her books. That’s why I love her books so so much!!

Great read as always . Freida McFadden writes the best books. I have read almost all of them at this point.

Unexpected Twist
I have read nearly all of McFadden’s books and find them hard to put down once I start. The Ex, on the other hand, was the exception. It got off to a slow start for me and didn’t really hold my attention until just past the halfway point. It was there that I finally wanted to keep reading to find out about Joel and Cassie as well as Dean and Francesca. Once again, McFadden caught me off guard with the plot twist! I did, however, also find the end of the book a bit confusing. All in all, though, I recommend The Ex for an enjoyable psychological thriller read.

Twists!
Honestly this is one of my more enjoyed books by her. I liked the twists and it kept me reading. I couldn’t put it down. Read in basically one sitting (finished in a few hours). Was in a bit of a slump with romance books so I wanted to try a mystery/thriller and this one was great.

Not really a psychological thriller
I just really don’t understand how I managed to see this one through to the end. It’s such a boring, practically non- existent plot with super boring characters. The final reveal is a big Is that it? moment. I have just wasted 3 hours of my life.
