No, that won’t work, I tried! Order this instead. It’s more expensive but super thick and sticky, comes with brads as well and closed over a 2” gap on my screen door. Yahhh …no more critters can get in! I’m ordering another set today to do both sides of the storm door. Q: Can it come off easily without ruining door?

Yes, mine did. You may need to apply a blow dryer to heat it up some. But it comes off.

Q: Will this damage a painted door or wood door upon removal?

Yes, it destroye the paint on my bedroom door don't do it!

Q: Does this work better when placed inside or outside the door?

If it is an interior door like a bedroom door, you can put it on either side. If it is a main door leading to the outside, I recommend using it on the inside. You can put it on the outside but weather conditions will deteriorate the quality of the product over time.
