OXO 1272080 Good Grips Cookie Press Springtime Disk Set

I've tried every disk in this set except for the clover and the bouquet. The cherry blossom was my favorite and looked very cute with red colored sugar sprinkled on top. I had the most difficulty with the rose disk, which was disappointing since that was the disk I was looking forward to using the most. Even though I followed the butter cookie recipe that came with the cookie press, the roses had a low success rate. I really enjoyed using this disk set. It's perfect for making valentines day themed cookies. I will update when I get the chance to use the clover and the bouquet disks.Update 2-26-14: I have used the bouquet and clover disks, and both produce well formed cookies. I was also able to get the rose disk to work by pulling the press up at a 90° angle after pressing out the dough. I have already made several batches of cookies with this disk set. They're great!

This press is easy to use, the cookies come out perfectly shaped. I tried all the discs the 1st time I used it and they are all adorable mini little cookies.Loading and refilling the dough is easy, and changing the design disc while there is dough in the tube is no problem! It holds enough dough to do one cookie sheet, roughly. I do wish it held a little more, but that's a minor gripe.I tried out the recipes included, they're not much to write home about, but they do give you an idea about the right consistency needed for this press to function well.I'm a little spoiled on my Mom's 50 yr old electric that works great! The past 3 electric presses I've bought all broke on me. This one is a keeper though!

The media could not be loaded. UPDATE, September 17 - The new special set of Autumn discs arrived outside my door this morning. I especially like the pumpkin, but the leaf, spider, turkey, owl and spider web are also attractive and will be great for Halloween. This new set of discs is as well made as the rest and do fit in the storage box. I can't wait to dig out all of my fall sprinkles and glitters. I really wish that OXO would make extra empty storage boxes available though so I don't have to double stack everything.****I adore my OXO Good Grips Cookie Press with Disk Storage Case and turn out a batch of my favorite Cream Cheese Spritz at least once a week, so I was over the moon to find this OXO Good Grips Cookie Press Springtime Disk Set. New seasonal designs are always welcome!You'll find Cherry Blossom, Rose, Love, Double Heart, Shamrock, and Bouquet designs, each nicely stamped from heavy metal for years of use. I did notice that the stem on the Bouquet design comes a bit far down the template, just touching the edge of the ring that holds the disc in place and suspect that might interfere a bit with pressing out that particular design. (I'll let you know as soon as I make a new batch.) Meanwhile, here is my tried and true Cream Cheese Spritz Recipe -Cream Cheese Spritz1 cup butter (2 sticks)3 ounces cream cheese1 cup sugar1 egg yolk1 teaspoon vanilla1/2 - 1 teaspoon other flavoring (orange, lemon, almond are all good), optional1/4 teaspoon salt2 1/2 cups flourDirections: Beat room temperature butter and cream cheese together until softened and well blended. Beat in sugar, then beat in the egg yolk, salt and flavorings. Stir in the flour until well combined and dough holds together. Use immediately. Bake at 350F about 8-12 minutes until the bottom edge is just barely golden. Makes about 8 dozen.NOTES: You can substitute baking margarine for the butter &/or lowfat cream cheese for the regular. If you want to make the dough and then hold it overnight in the fridge, allow it to soften and come back to room temperature before you attempt to use it.SHHHHH - don't tell anybody, but these OXO Good Grips Cookie Press Springtime Disk Set will also fit your Kuhn Rikon Clear Cookie Press with Decorating Tips and Storage Box.

It works fairly well. You have to make sure the dough is close to room temperature. The recipe says to put it into the fridge to chill but then you can't use it right out of the fridge; it doesn't press through until it softens again. I haven't tried them all yet but the ones I did try look okay.
