Brilliant summary of the history of Western civilization
The book shows how Christianity played a major role in influencing the ideas that occupy the world today . Ideas like human rights, equality, secularism, monogamy and many more. The author flinches no words in showing the attrocities committed by the church members, both catholic and protestant while still acknowledging the powerful ideas that Christianity espoused and continues to do. It argues with many examples that the morality prescribed by Christianity was a big departure from the morality of the ancient world of Greek, Roman and Persian empires. To give few examples of the influence, the book shows shows why modern science came out of Europe and how it was formed in the university systems established by the church in 12th century which continue till date. The modern law system was developed by the monks behind the cannon laws in the catholic church. The author argues for multiple enlightenment and reformation movements in western civilization rather than seeing them as a singular event. The book is easy to read because of the narrative style and I did not find it boring like the regular history textbooks.

Very small font
This review is for this particular edition of the book and not the content of the book. The font is really small and your eyes get tired after a couple of pages. Opt for a US copy if you want a more humane font that doesn't make you blind.
