Excellent alternate universe two pack
I’ve never been much of a fan of the alternate universe idea which relies upon good characters being evil and vice versa. However, in terms of Transformers toys it allows for the opportunity for some good redecos of existing figures, something that has been part of the franchise since its inception. That’s why it’s great to see the ‘War for Cybertron’ range produce some much wanted ‘Shattered Glass’ figures. The masterpiece version of ‘Shattered Glass’ Optimus Prime heavily lived up to the name. It is a tremendous figure. This ‘War for Cybertron’ take on the character is a close second, although it is obviously considerably smaller (it is also, of course, far cheaper and the best way to get a ‘Shattered Glass’ Prime at a reasonable price – if you can find him).It is, of course, merely a repaint of the ‘Earthrise’ Optimus Prime. However, that does mean that like the ‘Earthrise’ version it has a superb robot mode, a fairly decent truck cab and reasonably intricate but enjoyable transformation process. It is a great piece of engineering for its size.Like the ‘Earthrise’ Prime, he comes with the same blaster that can be folded and stored in the back of the cab as well as, presumably, a ‘Shattered Glass’ version of the Matrix. This being a two figure pack, he obviously doesn’t come with any version of the trailer (much like several editions of the ‘Earthrise’ Prime).Even though the Prime figure is clearly the better designed and engineered, it’s possible that Ratchet might have more of an appeal. Firstly, because both ‘Siege’ and ‘Earthrise’ Ratchet were exceptionally rare and secondly because this is a rarish opportunity to own a ‘Shattered Glass’ depiction of him.Like all the ‘War for Cybertron’ versions of Ratchet and Ironhide (as well as the Deseeus drone), the ‘Shattered Glass’ Ratchet is based upon the mould used for ‘Siege’ Ironhide, albeit sufficiently retooled to possess the Earthly ambulance altform. This means that he comes with the large detachable roof panel. This can be a little awkward to fix into place on the vehicle but it also doubles as either a ‘backpack’ or as a shield-cum-weapon. Presumably this is exactly the same mould as the ‘Earthrise’ Odyssey Ratchet (which as I wasn’t able obtain as my pre-order was cancelled). The vehicle mode is certainly better than the ‘Siege’ equivalent but it suffers from similar problems; the main one being the issue of the feet sticking out the back. This is exacerbated here by them being coloured blue. While white would definitely have blended in better, the blue feet do look good with his general colour scheme in robot form.Although not the rarest of Transformer two figure packs, it is still relatively difficult to get hold of. If you can obtain it for the actual retail price, though, it is definitely worth it as you get two very different figures that also compliment each other in the ‘Shattered Glass’ colours.

Worth filling the hole of a hard man collector (loner)
Haven't bought it because it is too much experience but can't wait to see the price go more up and more of these types of figures being hard to find (thank you scalpers)
