Bear Family does it, AGAIN! Why does it take a company based in Germany to do what no company in the U.S. will do? THANK YOU, Bear Family Records. You have made my wish list come true so many times. And now, with this exquisite Porter and Dolly cd set covering every song they ever recorded together - I can cross another wish off of my list. I think some of their non hit records were some of their best - from "Good as Gold" to "Closer By The Hour" to "Milwaukee Here I Come" to "Once More" to "Before Our Weakness Gets Too Strong" - these are stellar full on country honky tonk masterpieces. I loved George and Tammy, loved Conway and Loretta, loved Carl Butler and Pearl, and many, many other duets - but NO duet could ever or can ever top Porter and Dolly. The Complete Porter & Dolly Catalog!
I have been waiting for years for Dolly & Porter's material to be reissued on CD. Thankfully, the people at Bear Family Records has went above and beyond! Instead of remastering and reissuing each album separately, they've made it easy for the duo's fans! They placed all the albums (and rare demos, tracks, etc.) in one complete box set! Thanks, Bear Family Records!The sound of each song is remastered and phenomenal! There isn't a glitch or a skip in any of the tracks. The quality is absolutely beautiful! In the box set, you also get an 80-page booklet that covers each song in the discography. The book also contains some rare and seldom-before-seen photos of Dolly and Porter!If you are a fan of Dolly & Porter's music or a fan of some outstanding classic country music, I definitely would recommend this product! Each song is like a gift to your ears! Now, if only they would make a box set of the complete recordings of Loretta & Conway!

BEAUTIFUL
This is exactly what it says. You get the story and music of the greatest duo in Country Music. It highlights the unique combination of two people whose voices blended like no other - and draws us into the heart ache and pain of their professional career together. We learn about Porter Wagoner who was a star and about Dolly Parton who became a super star and a legend. It is a must for anybody who likes Country Music and for those who wish to discover it. I loved the accompanying book. It is factual, insightful and informative; elequently written and with great objectivity and balance. The picutes are fantastic and one cannot but shed a tear on reading it. The 4 cds cover 106 songs, from the well known to the rare, to the unique. The quality is top and there is beauty and brilliance to take one through every emotion imaginable. It is a must for anybody who loves music.

I believe they are the right combination!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this set. I grew up listening to Porter & Dolly because my mother loved them, so I was familiar with many of the songs here. What surprised me most was that with as many songs that are in this set, there was VERY few that I didn't care for...like, maybe 5 or less. I love that there are alternate versions of some of the songs. The playful banter between these two is so infectious. The book is an added bonus...some wonderful photos of them. So thrilled to have this in my collection.

A Wonderfully Done Collection
I'm neither a professional critic nor a half-way informed layman reviewer of music. However, I can say that the collection in question--Just between You and Me by Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton--is wonderfully done. The sound quality is flawless, and the accompanying book is a really nice touch. The recordings, of course, are already well-known to Wagoner-Parton fans. But for those not familiar with their oeuvre, I would add (warn) that there are some recordings so sad, so evocative (e.g., Little David's Harp), that tearing up is a real possibility, especially for older listeners, people not unacquainted with life's tragedies.

Crazy and sad and people trying to solve problems on their own and screwing up.Some very heavy songs written by Dolly.The book is great...this set is really well done and should really cost about $60-70 dollars instead of twice that.I know they researchers from the Bear family need to get paid so they can keep making great stuff!.,..so...Can some one please release Dolly's early 1970's live album A Real Live Dolly on CD.ThanksStephen

This is a truly amazing collection of the highest quality and the book is spectacular at least a 40 dollar book by itself with incredible pictures and stories. An absolute must for all Dolly fans I am so grateful that it exists,

If you're a fan of Dolly & Porter then this is the holy grail for you! This wonderful set contains every song that they recorded together for RCA. You will not be disappointed with this one at all! Highly recommended! Go ahead and treat yourself to the wonderful music of Dolly & Porter.
