Q: Does it adapt directly to any camera, such as the Nikon Z?

It will attach to your camera just fine as long as you mount it with the slide going side to side. If you mount it front to back you can’t tighten it as the tightening nob hits the bottom of the camera. If you mount it sideways on the tripod when you go to use your telephoto mount it won’t work unless you reorient the tripod mount front to back. What’s the point of quick release at that point. Poor engineering. They do make one with a cam lock which might work but at this point I’m not going to spend another $50.

Q: In order to turn the lever you have to turn the slide crosswise to camera. So ways doesn’t work if you mount to a large telephoto.
