Get the ESS version - it's a little more refined/organic over the AKM.Get the iFi iPower X - it ekes out even better performance for some reason.Get a better USB cable (RME's is trash).It's better than the Chord Qutest, more refined and neutral. In fact it's so good it can compete in much higher tiers than its price might suggest, this is before factoring in the EQ or the thousand other features it provides.It's 3.5mm out is the best thing you can do for your earphones, it's incredible. It's higher powered headout is OK, but won't win any awards.This is German Engineering at its finest - pure science and practice to eke out every drop of sound quality out of a digital signal, there's no hocus pocus audiophile stuff here. This is reflected in the sound which is completely grain free, natural and without a trace of digital harshness - it's utterly neutral and musical at the same time.
