Awesome grill/smoker
The media could not be loaded. This grill is awesome it was easy to assemble and there are so many attachments that you can buy as well. It's well built and heavy it came up to temp quickly and held steady for several hours while using the rotisserie attachment I bought. I highly recommend this grill! I love it!

Greatest non ceramic grill money can buy
This isn’t just a fancy kettle. It’s a lot closer to a ceramic kamado than it is to a metal kettle. All it needs is a gasket around the lid and it holds it’s temperature perfectly. It’s the best of both worlds. You can smoke with it and you can sear a steak at 700 degrees without having to buy any extra accessories. Also My dad likes it so much he is buying one for himself.

Fine grill, put a seal on lid & sloroller before cooking 1st time.
Cooked & smokes very well. Uses less charcoal & wood than the off set stick burner. Dislike, 1 brisket at a time. With a med brisket cooking , that’s all you have room for.

Wow, versatility you just can’t understand until you do
I have NEVER smoked anything. I grill a mean steak tho. My old charcoaled was dead, and I didn’t want another huge one so I started doing research. I came across Kamado grills and became educated, but they weigh 400lbs and I can’t move that kind of weight. The kettle is amazing, and 132lbs on a great stand. Moves easily. I smoked the first thing and it came out amazing. It grills just as well and I’m sure if I baked, it would excel at that too. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to maintain temp but I did, and wow I have been kidding out. I can’t wait to cook something else. Buy ut. Thank me later. Watch lots of utube videos.

Quality control and customer service is lacking.
Serious quality control issues on this grill. The first unit had a missing top vent. Contacted the manufacturer. No response for about ten days. When I finally got a vent, it was for the wrong grill. Clearly their support was not paying attention to the details of my concern. Thankfully Amazon sent me a replacement unit. On my third low and slow cook I noticed the porcelain enamel starting to chip around the handle of the lid. There are also other areas of the lid where the porcelain enamel is lacking. Fit and finish is rather poor. I had high hopes for this grill. I thought my cook times would be longer with the added insulation but it’s no better than a properly set up Weber kettle. Needless to say I doubt I’m going to buy another Kamado Joe product. Should have gotten the Weber Summit Kamado or Big Green Egg for a bit more money. I’ll probably end up selling this grill eventually.

The best grill I have ever owned!
I really like the way it heats up quickly. I also purchased the rotisserie, it works fantastic with the grill. The charcoal seems to last longer than my old smoker/grill and it maintains a constant heat for several hours. Very good value for the money. $100. Less than lowes

This AIN'T a Kamado Joe! Leaks like a sieve
OK, this is very early after acquiring the grill, with several cooks under my belt ... and I am HEAVILY biased by my experiences with my Big Joe III and I also own a Weber Performer Deluxe.Long story short, this thing leaks BAD! For "low and slow", I had both bottom and top closed tight and could barely keep temp below 250. When I completed the first cook (plenty of charcoal left over) ... it stayed > 200 for hours and basically burned up all the coal. When I started the second cook (lots of heavy smoke while it came up), I tried to close it up to see where smoke was coming from and it came from EVERYWHERE ... bottom and top of slow roller, out of the top vent, etc.Obviously the Kamado seals tight when you close it : I can kill a 500+ degree fire quickly and you can see from "smoke" (or lack thereof) that it is closed tight. On my weber, just put the lid down and shut the vents and it is cool within 1/2 hour. On the Kettle Joe, it leaks so bad that the thing stayed > 200 degrees and fried every last bit of charcoal.Just in case I assembled it incorrectly ... on the second cook I tried to loosen the "lid" (the hinge slides up and down to let you put in the slo-roller thingie), to make sure the lid was completely resting on the bottom, then tightened it back up again - no help, the lid was laying on the slo-roller as tight as it could but still leaked bad.(UPDATED)So far I have done a couple of "low and slow" cooks ... chicken (3-4 hours), ribs (4-5 hours), pulled pork (6-7 hours) and brisket (7-9 hours) - as expected, the longer cooks like pulled pork or brisket required reloading more charcoal, which obviously is going to be a royal P.I.T.A. going forward. The big benefit of a Kamado is it holds temp steady forever ... with the Kettle Joe you have to constantly monitor, especially late since you will have to reload the coals and let them burn "dirty" before putting the meat back on (unless it is wrapped).I dropped a note to KJ to see if they have any suggestions, I will follow-up here. So far I have not heard back other than they made it a PITA to post a negative review. Now ... the COOKS have been pretty good ... the chicken smoke was very good, the ribs a wee bit on the dry side but still got high marks by all concerned; pork and brisket were excellent. This is still going to be better than a kettle grill for smoke ... so overall the principal is good but the poor design and manufacture takes away from what should & could be an awesome product ... *especially for the price premium they are getting*. Maybe wait for KJ to fix their obvious flaws before getting one.

Use this with more charcoal than you think
Nice unit. Well made and solid. Problem is that you can’t lower the cooking surface, which means you have to increase charcoal amount. Also needs a lot of charcoal to her above 300. With the top down most items will take 20-30 minutes. Outcome is great but process is unique.
