The future of engine oil is here
Latest and greatest from the tribologists from Germany. What it lacks in traditional viscosity is made up with some super slippery chemistry designed to maintain the thin oil film between moving parts.Don't panic when you pour this as it looks like antifreeze-- in color (it's green) and consistency.Clearly states on the bottle " suitable in all applications where 0w-20 is required". That opens it up use for in my toyota-ford- honda.I'm sure it helps fuel economy and cold start lubrication, but it is unmeasureable in the real world- unless you are using straight 50 weight... in Alaska.I can't offer analysis or longevity claims but I intend to get 10k miles per change- just like I've done for years with mobil-1. It just doesn't make economic sense to change it out any sooner. The trend is going to thinner and thinner lubrication oils to steal every MPG manufactures can.One complaint: the bottle opens up like your typical gallon jug of olive oil where you pull up on two plastic bails to pop up a built in spout. In this case it takes about 50 pounds of force to extract the spout- almost impossible to do without steadying the bottle on the ground whilst applying the big yank.Happy motoring!
