... is the battery replaceable?

Nope.  After 1 year your battery will start to die and your Tile app will inform you that you need to “upgrade” which to my dismay really means competely replacing all your tile products with brand new ones at $25-$30 a pop. 
Now you would think maybe the newer version of their product would address some of these issues so you dont have to completely replace every Tile you own annually.   But think again.  The “new version” will need to be completely replaced in roughly the same time as well. But according to Tile thats to your benefit so you dont have to be bothered with “poking and prying out a battery” and you dont have to be “inconvenienced with replacing or recharging batteries”
Pathetic money grab and business model imo.  I have 6 tiles.  Like what the product does but I refuse to spend $150-$200 every year to replace them.  And “member pricing” to retile is a joke.  Its not much different that buying new ones from amazon

I just recently heard of the new  smart alert beta version for tile on the moderndayfamilyman youtube channel. is this beta still available?

Does this drain phone battery ?   Can I just pair it when I want to find it

Our engineers are working on reducing the battery usage for every iteration of our app so that having the app run in the background does not cause battery drain. If you noticed that the Tile app consumption is much more than what you consider normal, you can email us at socialsupport@thetileapp.com so we can look into it further.

We recommend having your app always open in order for your Tiles to report an up-to-date and accurate location of when it was last connected to your device. If you opted to turn it off, it will only display the location where your phone and Tile last connected. Can I use it to keep an eye on my bike while I am still nearby (eg going into a bank or restaurant)?
