Q: I was told that this doesn't come with a usb adapter. then why is it shown in the picture? what kind of wattage does the adapter have to be?

Mine came with the adapter and the cord shown in the picture. The light pad has to be plugged in to work. You can plug one end of the cord into the pad and the other end into the computer to power it. As an alternative, you can use the adapter, and instead of plugging it into the computer, you can plug it into any regular household wall outlet. That’s how mine works in the United States anyway. I’m not sure about elsewhere and wouldn’t want to mislead anyone.

Q: Can the object you are tracing be enlarged by the screen also does it have a grid showing capability?

I bought this pad for my wife for doing diamond painting. She loves it. In answer to your question about enlarging the picture. Not to my knowledge. And there is no grid showing when it is lighted up. The reason my wife likes it is because of the intensity of the light beneath the diamond painting, the numbers a much easier to read, especially for seniors.

Q: Why does the light box continue to glow even after it is turned off?

When I purchased mine did not glow. Not sure; yours might be not be working well? I also ended up returning mine as it came a little damaged, but it certainly did not glow when off.
