Copilot Child Carrier

UPDATE: Our bike store was able to customize the extenders, and the seat now works fine on my bike. It cost $25 to have the bike store customize and install. They said that actually this brand (Copilot) and Thule are the brands that they recommend, and the Thule seat would not fit on my bike, anyway. I have taken my 2-yr.-old out daily since getting my bike back and this seat is working great for us. I like the recline options to get the best position for your child.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I did a LOT of research before I selected this seat. I was confident before I placed my order, after reading the reviews and answered questions available, that this would fit my hybrid cruiser recreational bike (my bike, specifically, is the sixthreezero EVRYjourney women's 7-speed bike sold by Beach Bikes, with 26" wheels). We unfortunately cannot install the rack for this Limo seat properly due to the more extended rear frame of the cruiser-style bike. The "extenders" that come with the Limo rack are not very adjustable and are not nearly long enough to reach to the rear wheel of my bike in the proper position for the rack to sit horizontal to the ground. The rack must tilt way too far forward/down as it is, so that there is no room to set the Limo seat itself on the rack. Most definitely does not work. I THINK we will be able to take the whole shebang to a local bike shop and hopefully have them provide much longer extenders. If so, I think we're ok. Otherwise, as much as I like everything else about this seat, it must be returned and the search goes on. I am very surprised and disappointed that this will not fit my recreational bike after all the research I did and several other reviewers specifically mentioning how well it works with "cruiser" bikes. I can see it would fit fine on my husband's bike, which has a different and more compact layout in the back tire area, but that won't help me because I'm the primary one who will take the kids out biking.

Just purchased this and used it the whole week while at the beach. Assembling it was a bit tough but once it was on, it was great. Very easy to put my daughter in and take her out. She rides very comfortably in it. Taking it off the mount is easy as well. Happy with the purchase.

I purchased the Copilot Limo with the rack for disc brakes because it was super discounted through Amazon Warehouse. We figured that we would take a shot at installing it because of the price, even though we both have traditional hybrid bikes (without the disc brakes). Installation wasn't too bad. I think that having two people helped - one to hold the bike and pieces in place while the other screws them in. I did take off a star because the screws that attach the extenders to the bike seemed very cheaply made and one stripped easily. We ended up using the ones that were already on my husband's bike. For the price, I would expect to receive better made hardware, especially since a good amount of weight will be on the bracket.The rack is attached through the quick release for your back tire and is additionally attached to the frame of the bike slightly underneath the seat. It feels very secure and we felt very comfortable with our daughter back there. The rack is not easy to take on and off so if you will be bothered by how bulky it is you may want to look into other seats that have smaller mounts that just attach to the bike frame. My husband was a little put off by it at first, but has grown to not mind it. I think it is nice because you can use the rack for things like saddle bags and other bike accessories when not using the child seat. You can also purchase an additional rack separate so you can use the seat on multiple bikes.The seat itself is fairly easy to get in and out of the rack. We had some difficulties unhooking the seat from the bike at first, but I think that we just needed to get used to the motion of it. It took two of us to get our daughter in and out of the seat without the bike tipping. My husband has been getting more comfortable doing it on his own by putting the bike up against the car. Our 10 month old daughter seemed very comfortable and content in the seat. Actually, the first time we took her for a test ride around the neighborhood she started crying when we tried to take her out! I also like that the seat has adjustable foot rests so she has room to grow in it.They also advertise that the seat can be used as a kid seat on the ground. We set it up and it seemed okay but I don't see any real added value to that feature since we'll usually sit in the grass somewhere or just bring a blanket if we stop to take a break.

Harder to install than I expected on anything except a bike specially targeted at being a basic neighborhood cruiser. I also had to use different nuts as these strangely would not tighten down.I do like the design of the chair being removed from a rack rather than directly onto the adult bike, since that makes it multi function.

I love this. My daughter is a tall 3 year old. She fits this well and if she falls asleep her head doesn't flop on to nothing. I love the feet protectors and the fact that it mounts on the wheel.

My 2yr old loves this (and she usually hates being strapped in anywhere). Very comfortable for her and a nice ride. It was a little tricky installing on our hybrid Trek bikes, but we got it to work (needed longer slide bars - available at any bicycle repair shop - around $7).

The extenders (which attach the seat to the bike)) that ship with this Child Carrier are too short. A number of customers have complained about this issue in their reviews and when I called up Customer Service, they said they hadn't heard directly from customers about this and I had to purchase additional extenders separately.

To all the nervous mothers, like me. I highly recomme d this seat. I was traveling at 65 mph with this bike behind my car. The bike flew off of the rackand hit the pavement. The bike had damage, however not a single scratchwas on the seat. I would buy this itemagain. I feel safe with my child riding in it.

This is a good product, but be careful, the image is misleading. It shows the Copilot Limousine, but it is in fact the Copilot Taxi.

I having so much fun biking with my little guy! The seat seems to be quite comfortable for him and I love the fact it reclines and he did fall asleep. The seat seems very sturdy and protective. He loves to get on the seat and as soon as I take out the bike he brings or tries to bring the seat out for me. He loves the handle bar that he can hold onto and I also feel safe that he has the handle bar to grab onto. We are having so much fun cruising around!

The pictures on Amazon showed the Limo version so I thought that is what I was buying but it was actually the cheaper version. I probably would not have purchased if I knew we were getting the taxi model
