Q: How often do you have to change grass?

You don't change the grass, you rinse it. Mine isn't used much since they decided they like snow, lol. Only at night when temps dip below -10.

Q: How would this work for a male dog - wouldn't it just spray everywhere?

I started my female toy poodle on this 8 years ago and she still prefers it over natural grass. My male toy (2 years older) never took to it. My recommendation is to get a male started on it in the puppy stage and He may or may not take to it. As an adult, mine won't use it.

Q: Does the pee soak right thru to the tray with one pee? I've had it for a couple days and I can't tell if my dog is using it or not.

Kind of depends on how much the dog pees. I have a small dog and when she hasn't gone for several hours you can pick up the middle section and see the results.
