What I've been looking for.
Edit: After owning this flash for 8 months I still love it.I've tried building all sorts of flash brackets for my macro and near-macro work over the past decade. I've tried ring lights and ring flashes. I've used a cord to move my flash around on a tripod. Everything was either too heavy or produced flat lighting or weird ring highlights. I wanted the Canon twin macro flash, but I never had ~$800 to spend on a couple lights. I decided to take a flyer on this unit recently to see if it could solve all my problems. So far, this thing is awesome. Pretty lightweight (it's all plastic). Very easy to maneuver the flash heads and focus light to exactly where I want them, even handheld. It is a 100% manual flash though, so be aware of that. I've found that I get adequate lighting with my 100mm Canon macro lens with one flash set to 1/4 and the other to 1/16 with ISO 200, f/16, shutter speed of around 1/250 when I'm at double my closest working distance. For 1:1 macro I find I need to dial those flash powers down quite a bit.Previously, I was ending up with a well-lit subject and a black background when shooting salamanders. My practice shots with inanimate objects suggest that my black backgrounds will be a thing of the past while using this flash. One flash can be easily moved to fill in the background while the other provides light from where ever else you want it.It's all plastic, so it does feel on the cheap side. I won't really get to give this flash a workout for a few more months, but I've been very pleased with it so far. I haven't used it enough to get a handle on how long a set of batteries will last in it. I'd say my flash recharge times are probably at 1-2 seconds at the power I've been using. I'm curious to see how the arms hold up after a lot of moving around. I've been careful to avoid twisting right at the flash heads so far.The focus light is easy to turn off and on (hit the up or down arrows on the back of the flash). I've been able to get good test shots in a completely dark room using only the focus light.

Dream tool!
This flash is my dream tool ... adjustable flashheads for micro! It worked as it should for probably 1.5 to 2 years before one side went dead. I don't know where to get it fixed, so use it now as a one-headed adjustable flash. This limits backfill, which I miss, but I still use it.The negative about this product is that I would say the build quality could be improved (hence one star off). But since no similar product is comparable (at least in the same price range), this is what we have. I recommend it, hoping that my problem is not common to each copy. Even so, for the many times I used this, having to buy a replacement every couple of years is still worth the versatility that I get from the adjustable heads, with adjustable flash speeds for each side. The middle light is of little use to me and for my purposes it would be better if it didn't exist. But it doesn't really bother me too much so I won't complain about it.

I think the arm extenders on this product give it ...
I think the arm extenders on this product give it so much potential but I didn't find you could make the adjustments necessary to get appropriate lighting on the picture. This product did not work for me and there were very little instructions included.
