Smooth Transistions
Bought this to help transition my elderly Mom from the wheelchair, bed and toilet. For the few times that she's feeling weak...this has been a great addition to our transition moments. You do have to be careful in that this thing swings freely and fast. I have to use my feet to stabilize it while she stands on it. Then I am able to swing her left or right depending upon the transition needed. Overall, I would recommend this for use. But, be sure to ask your Physical Therapist how to properly use it for the safety of you and your person.

REQUIRES TWO PEOPLE
A lot of reviews are nonsense. One person stands on the disc. The second person is doing all the work! The second person needs to be strong enough to hold up the one on the disc, stabilize them, turn them.My mother has partial paralysis and cannot currently walk. We plant both feet on the disc as she sits. Stand her up with our feet on the disc to stabilize and prevent any wobbling or spinning. Holding onto my mother, we control the spinning and when to stop so she can be sitting again. The second person or “spinner” needs to able to fully support the one on the disc or it’s simply not safe.

Spins faster than a lazy susan!
My dad has Parkinson's and has trouble pivoting and turning. As soon as you step on this it starts jiggling because it wants to spin. Whether or not you have tremors this disk is NOT stable. Even with me stepping on the side while my dad got on, it just wants to spin and there's no way to adjust the ease of the spin. Used 1 time then tried once with physical therapist who agreed it is NOT safe.

A Lazy Susan for the handicapped!
This is a great product. My wife can only move a few small steps, using a walker while I'm hanging on to steady her. She usually just does a 45 degree pivot to move from a furniture chair or bed to a transit chair, and this helps her to make that pivot. The problem I encounter is that I'm usually beside her (helping her sit) or behind her. This only works safely if the caregiver can be in front of the patient. It works best if there can be two caregivers involved.

Person has to be stable, not shaky.
Works well unless the person is bigger than you and has balance issues. My husband was afraid of falling. Not safe for us to use. Idea is good just nothing to hold onto.

Much needed assistance
I have a 96 year old mother with muscle weakness and essential tremors. She can sometimes stand for a short period of time, but cannot actually move her feet. Having this allows me to turn her enough to transfer her from one seated position to another. It saves me from having to lift her, which hurts her....and me. Foot placement is key though. If not placed in the center of the disc, the spin is off, making it difficult to be in the right position when turned.
