Great reliable mouse
Great mouse, my first one lasted over 12 years with a multitude of uses, ranging from heavy gaming to day to day work, so glad they are still producing this model, as i purchased another to hopefully last me another 12+ years

Not wireless and has hyper scroll.
I have had too many troubles with wireless Logitech mice over the years so I got this for working from home and it has performed without a glitch unlike it wireless siblings. I have been using Logitech mice for many years now because the ergonomics suit me but, mostly, because of their hyper scroll function. I now find that I cannot use a mouse without it. It makes navigating long lists or large data tables so much easier and requires a lot less hard work for one's index finger which affects all the muscles in the lower arm. A mouse without hyper scroll is old hat these days, an outdated technology that should not be used. Incidentally, if you don't like the hyper scroll, it can be switched off.

Great for RSI sufferers
I used one of these mice for years. When it finally broke, I bought a Roccat with more buttons, a better sensor, snazzy software. But the Roccat is slippery to hold (I added sugru "grips") and just not such a comfortable shape in my hand. I've ended up with RSI in my index finger. I don't know whether to blame the Roccat mouse, but it's definitely not helping. So I have bought a replacement M500 because it served me well for so long. I miss the extra few buttons when gaming and the pads underneath the Logitech aren't as slippery on my mousepad. But the logitech provides my wrist, hand and fingers a very gentle neutral position. I'm sure it is better for me in the long run. Welcome back, comfy mouse.

Perfect Mouse
I bought one of these a few years ago. I like it so much I bought this one to use with my laptop.

The Mousewheel Less Than Great
With mice, you basically get what it says on the tin. It does the job. What mainly lets this mouse down is the mousewheel. Apart from the annoying brrbrbrrrrbrbrbrr rattle you get from spinning it, as a middle mouse button, you really have to press hard to register. Even beyond the 'click', it'll sometimes not select unless you press further.

Robust and comfortable
This is my favorite mouse for daily use. I regularly use the back/forward buttons during browsing. Decent quality, not too light. I bought a spare one already. I can recommend.

An okay mouse... unless you use the middle mouse button (and hate bloat-ware)
I've been using the Logitech G400 Optical Gaming Mouse for years but it's recently started to disconnect/reconnect at random, so I decided to give the wired version of the M500 a go seeing as it had a very similar shape and button layout. For basic use the M500 feels comfortable in the hand, the weight is fine, and it seems to be reasonably well built. The problems start with the buttons. The action of all the buttons on my G400 are identical, i.e. the amount of travel, the volume of the click, and the "click" feedback, feels the same from one button to the next. On the M500, however, all the buttons feel different to one another, as if they've been assembled using button switches intended for different products. This is probably something I could get used to if it wasn't for the middle mouse button.I'm a 3D artist and use the middle mouse button all the time for viewport navigation, and the odd way in which the middle mouse button functions makes the mouse practically unusable for my use case. It's far too stiff, there's waaay too much travel before the click registers, and the left/right scroll clicks (which my G400 doesn't have) seem to override the middle mouse click. So if you press the middle mouse button with the wheel ever so slightly off-centre, the left/right scroll clicks take priority and prevent the middle mouse click from triggering. And even if you do manage a perfectly straight middle mouse press, there's a lag of about half a second before it actually registers. One solution I came across was to use Logitech Options to remap the left/right scroll clicks to also be the middle mouse click, and this does fix the need to ensure perfectly straight middle mouse clicks. But it doesn't fix the lag and Logitech Options also interfered with my various AutoHotKey scripts that my workflow depends upon. Also I'm opposed to having to install a 300MB+ bit of software that uses up disk space and system memory just to remap one mouse button. My G400 works fine without having to install any additional software. Logitech Options also installed Logi Bolt without my consent, even though I'm using the wired version and have no need for it!I've decided to return it and gone back to using my G400 in the hope that it lasts a bit longer while I find a suitable replacement. One thing I'm certain of is that I'll be avoiding Logitech from now on. Their products aren't of the quality they once were, and their software is nothing more than buggy bloatware (although to be fair that seems to be an industry wide problem at the moment).

Middle mouse button didn't register clicks half the time.
Middle mouse button didn't register clicks half the time. Only reason I'm not rating it 1 star is under the assumption that my product may have been faulty.
