Blink Outdoor with two-year battery life | Wireless HD smart security camera, motion detection, Alexa enabled | 3-Camera System with Sync Module

I’ve been using the Blink Outdoor Security Camera for several months now, and overall, it’s a solid addition to my home security setup.Pros:• Easy Installation: Setting up the camera was straightforward, and the wireless design meant I didn’t have to deal with any complicated wiring.• Battery Life: One of the standout features is the advertised two-year battery life. While I haven’t reached the two-year mark yet, the battery performance has been impressive so far.• Video Quality: The 1080p HD video is clear, and the night vision works well, providing peace of mind during nighttime hours.• Integration: It integrates seamlessly with Alexa, allowing for voice commands and easy access to live feeds.Cons:• Battery Life Variability: While the battery life is generally good, I’ve noticed that in high-traffic areas where the camera is triggered frequently, the battery drains faster. It’s something to keep in mind when choosing placement.• Subscription for Cloud Storage: To access certain features like cloud storage, a subscription is required after the initial trial period. Conclusion:The Blink Outdoor Security Camera offers a great balance of ease of use, video quality, and battery performance. I used to peep behind the curtains. Then I got Blink.Someone stole my neighbour’s van at 11:00pm on Christmas Day. It shocked me. I decided to get a security camera. Researching these is difficult. There are huge variations in prices and huge ranges in functionality . Nevertheless I decided to buy one.I didn’t want a swivelling camera that followed my neighbour up the road putting a label on him/her, with close-ups and zoom features. I didn’t want to be sitting at the end of my phone or laptop living a vicarious lifestyle of seeing what was happening outside my house without actually being out there in the fresh air. I didn’t want to be panicking at every ding notification on my phone that the neighbour’s cat was wandering about.With these criteria in mind I decided that the Blink camera was actually the one I needed. It is very controllable and adaptable to what I needed. I want a minimalist system, low maintenance , that records incidents at my property , especially when I am away. I can see what is going on if I want to remotely. I can save video evidence if there are snags.My wife wanted to be involved but she didn’t want to be frightened by constant pinging notifications on her iPhone.The setup for these 2 year battery life Blink cameras is effortless. I emailed Blink for advice about a couple of things including switching off notifications. They came back quickly. In the meantime I found out that iPhone lets you turn off these notifications in the Settings menu. You can also plug in your own USB stick to get local storage with no subscription required.It’s a great system . It works very well. The only downside is that the black and white infra red system isn’t as good as I would have liked it for night viewing.I am really impressed with the system, both the software and the hardware, which is simple to set up and operate and cheap to run unobtrusively in the background. It is deceptively competent for the price.

Bought 4 outdoor cameras and doorbellwhilst using the 30 day trial the system worked really well - live notifications of movement, live view of video clips in the app (very easy to set up)ensuring you have strong wifi is key as is having a sync module otherwise when the subscription ends you cant get videos anymore !!!so using sync module with usb stick allows you to save videos to it -HOWEVER when your subscription stops then things change.the motion detection becomes very slow - often taking minutesclips dont appear in the app for some minutesmotion detection becomes slow - often taking minutesBlink support will tell you its your slow internet speeds - no its not - its the fact that the system needs to read the video file from the usb via the sync module through your wifi to your mobile deviceif your not close to your router this takes some time, but even if you are close to your router its still much slower than within the 30 day trial (which uses Amazon cloud servers) on the same wifi connection !!so it would appear that Amazon purposely slow down the system if you dont subscribe which is £25 per device or £80 per system (large number of devices) per yearThat said i still like it - easy to set up, as long as cameras not too far from router, easy app, good day-time images, average to poor night time (ive added PIR lights for motion detection within camera area), yes do get some false motion detection especially when area viewed changes from sun to shade and things move (not people or animals) which get hot /cold due to solar gain.
