This assortment is great for beginners, which I am. There is a wide variety of colors and enough roving yarn to make many creatures, both realistic and whimsical.For felting needles, I recommend an assortment package that includes a long and a short needle. The long is usually a 36 (your main felting needle) that has a triangle shaped tip. The short is a 38. For a better needle, I recommend Bear Creek which sells a star shaped tip. This tip is easier for piercing felted wool, so I get size 38 for detailing.I've been using Corriedale 8 oz white for the core of my animal. I have found it takes more work to get the shape you want, but it is relatively cheap wool for the amount they give you and does work great for the core of your animal. It just takes longer to get a firm core. What's nice about it, this white can also be used for white places on your animal. No need to add white. Just use the exposed core.

The weight was off on quite a few bags but is currently being rectified. Beautiful selection of colors for needle felting. Why is it so hard to find a variety of colors in a quantity higher than 5g bags? I loved this option of different weights and colors. Too bad I only recieved 1 written project instead of 2 written and 2 videos as mentioned in the ad, I was looking forward to those.
