Best Garmin yet
Excellent display. Good sound. Pulled my travel trailer from Connecticut to South Dakota. The displays are super useful for stops along your route. Upcoming real time assistance for every need. I couldn't live without this after having it. It's that amazing. Lost signal on cell phone. Not this. Never skipped a beat. Purchased the ram mounting system for this. Also a Ford bracket from BUILTRIGHT INDUSTRIES. Best setup ever.

Expensive, but worth it!
This is an expensive GPS but it I think it's worth it. The voice recognition is awesome, all you do is tell it where you want to go. Enter the size of your RV and it recommends appropriate roads to get you where you're going. The large screen is easy to see and much better than a phone.

Overall a great purchase
I bought this to help with traveling with our 38' camper. So far, it's been hit or miss.First the hits:The screen is lovely. The touch screen works seamlessly. The colors are vivid and it easily adjusts so as not to distract during night driving. The spoken directions are pleasant and helpful. And the voice isn't that traditional robotic type voice others have. It has a lot of options that I enjoy. You can pick what data points you see on your screen. My favorite has been telling you what is coming up at the next exit. The misses:Getting this thing to automatically connect to your phone (to use the data, update, etc) is not seamless. You have to open the garmin drive app on your phone. Sometimes it connects, sometimes it does not. The app tells me to update the device firmware all the time but when I sit in the truck and turn the app on, it does not give any helpful prompts on getting that done (hint, you need to do it on the device). The maps are not great, too. So far, I've taken two camping trips. On one, it sent me on a road that travelled under a bridge but as the road came to that bridge, it wanted me to turn to the right as if I were ON the bridge itself. There was no road for me to turn on.A few other times, it took me on a not RV-friendly road (despite having the appropriate selections) and asked me to make turns onto roads that were very clearly private and had large gates completely blocking the road. I had to figure out appropriate places to double back, a not-so-fun endeavor when towing. en years ago, I would not fault a GPS with not knowing road closures. But now, with other phone-based GPS having this incredibly helpful feature, there's no excuse to not cover it here. Especially when the phone and the device sync. I can see real-time whether wherever I am, why are you making me by a specific traffic control related device to have this functionality. Feels like a money grab for an already expensive unit. All in all, this unit is worth the purchase. The bothers I have would not deter me from purchasing again. Just keep in mind you might want to also run Waze or some other GPS in the background in case you encounter a wrong turn or road closure. I've had both problems on 100% percent of my two outings thus far.

Worth it
We started traveling far with our rv and this is great for keeping us off roads we don’t fit. You punch in the size of vehicle and rv, length - height - weight keeps you from bridges you are too heavy for it can’t go under. Also gives you gas stations restaurants attractions.Peace of mind when you are traveling

It's interesting
Went on our first trip using the Garmin 8" GPS Navigator. We planned a four day trip in the Hill Country of Texas. First day filled the RV with gas and turned on the Navigator. It had a nice clear picture with an easy to follow indicator. We were familiar with the immediate area and started questioning directions. We paid five hundred bucks for the thing, so assumed it must know what it was doing. An hour later we passed the same gas station we filled up at. We knew the route to our destination so decided to travel a bit, and then give the Navigator a second chance. After twenty minutes it was once again sending us to places unknown, and not remotely in the direction we wanted to go. Day two we gave the Garmin another chance. This time we were in unfamiliar territory, and completely dependent on the Navigator. Once again, after an hour of right and left turns, we were right back where we started. That's all it took. We turned off the Garmin and used a phone app that took us directly to where we were going. Day three we decided to program the Garmin and our phone app. Almost immediately they were at odds. With very little confidence in the Garmin, we followed the phone app. The Garmin kept trying to take us on some very strange roads, the phone app took us directly to where we wanted to go. Needless to say, the Garmin is now boxed up and going back to wherever it came from, that is unless the driver is using a similar Garmin, then it will never make it.
