Advanced Scrimshaw Techniques

I bought this book (and the first book by the same author) for source information on beginning my own scrimshaw. I am quite satisfied with it and have happily begun my own work on bone and antler. I would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in scrimshaw. And if you start doing your own, invest in some renaissance wax, also sold on Amazon.

This book has a lot of tips and assistance for anyone producing scrimshaw.

The book displays an abundance of impressive and beautiful pieces. A great book for anyone's coffee table. But, I think more important, is the variety of subjects and techniques displayed. I found it inspirational-- gave me the urge go over to my workbench, grab my pin-vise, and start poking some holes. I may never be able to do as well as some of the artists who did these things, but their work gives me lots of ideas about how I might improve my scrimshanding.

I have several reference books on the art of scrimshaw and catalogues of the better known artist in the field. This book is both. Several artist add tidbits of advice to improve your art and the photo gallery is clean and clear. A valuable book to have.

I found the content of this book, really interesting. of scrimshawing. it goes' into the tools, and techniques, and explains in simple terms. some excellent illustrations inside. well worth the read, to advance your scrim techniques.

once you have started your scrimshawing, you will want to go more advanced.....get this book. it is well worth it. giving you the tools, and advice, on how to take it further. it has several really good illustrations as well.
