Certified Refurbished Echo Dot (3rd Gen) - Smart speaker with Alexa - Charcoal Fabric

Over the last few months I have added several refurbished Echo Dot 3 devices to our home and home offices. They are a great way to get into home automation by slowly adding remote control devices for lighting, power, robot cleaner, TV etc.Voice recognition is not bad generally - pretty good actually considering the complexity of the English language! Alexa does hiccup occasionally with hilarious responses or no response at all so the command has to be repeated, but overall, it is pretty impressive that you can now control so much of what is in your home even from outside of it using the app.I have found the sensitivity of the microphones pretty impressive as well as some devices located in other areas sometimes respond instead of the one you are actually talking to.So many uses for these devices and great for quick information from the internet. It is also nice to play radio or music selections on.As we have home offices, they also make great intercomms so you don't have to keep walking everywhere to talk to someone. I am planning on putting one in our barn soon which is quite some distance from the house, but it will be easy to connect via Wi-Fi.

This is perfect for an alarm clock and to set Alexa to wake you up to the radio station of your choice.Good sound too and I very much recommend this product.

Long time user of fire tv and Alexa remote but first time user of smart speaker .For me in a portable speaker sound is everything, and I’m not disappointed . For such a compact unit it’s immense . It goes loud . But too loud and it distorts like mad , but that’s really cranked up . The sound easily fills my living room it’s good too plays Spotify well with lots of clarity detail and just the right amount of bass . Impressive for such a small speaker. i Can’t say how it would be in a bigger flat or house though.Features wise My son was initially freaked out by an electronic voice talking to him (he’s only young ) however me being stupid with the messaging feature made him more comfortable. This is by far my favourite feature , I can be in a different room and text a message (through the app) and it reads it out loud in Alexa voice , funny and useful .Shame it’s got to be plugged in all the time but I suppose the battery wouldn’t last long other wise .I think it’s got lots more tricks fit me to discover but I’ve only had it a day .

Artificial machine speech has come a long way - the intonation is more or less perfect. This unit was refurbished in different packaging to the original but the unit itself was perfect. The PSU is black, rather than white. Apart from announcing the weather, it controls my heating via Nest through Google, my lighting via Philips Hue and Apple Music. If you have an Amazon Prime account, you can order stuff, etc. I also can listen to my Audible books.Most of the intelligence isn't built-in but provided by servers so to some extent, the system and therefore the unit itself gets updated centrally so the whole system is quite organic - expect capabilities to expand with time.An important method of controlling the Echo Dot is through the Alexa phone app that simplifies setting stuff like alarms on specific devices. If you have other Alexa units, you can use them as an intercom system.Some of the functionality is through installing apps that Amazon call skills so you can ask specific questions such as the next train to a particular location, the nearest barbershop - Alexa will ask if you want to install these extra skills depending on what you ask.

Echo dot smart home starter kit. As to be expected not great but good product. Ok for the price. I spent so much time to fix it.we bought this camera doorbell for security, but the instructions that came with it seems unclear and it would appear .we'd need to pay for an electrician to install it .

The Amazon Echo Dot 3rd Generation Dots are by for the best! They are small, stable and easy to set up. Their sound is really good, without any issues, unlike the 4th Generation Amazon Dots, that suffer from sound issues! I was so pleased to be able to buy this refurbished Amazon Echo Dot 3rd Generation, which is the third one that I now own, I have one in my living room, my bedroom and now in my kitchen as well, enabling me to enjoy all their benefits wherever I am in my bungalow, which is brilliant!

I’m 70 years old and I wanted a device for casual listening to music with a good sound and easy to setup and use. I got exactly what I required with the echo. The sound quality is amazing for a small device. I listen to a variety of music - rock, classical, world, electronic etc and the echo handles it all well. The device can be operated by speaking to it or by the free app on phone. I consider myself a fan.

Have wanted a smart speaker for some time but being a technophobe have been putting it off. Excellent cyber Monday offer of a refurbished Echo Dot for £15.00 what had I got to lose? Have only had it one day but it was simple to set up even for me!! Have been enjoying all the radio stations that a radio cannot receive and asking Alexa lots of questions. You would not know this was refurbished, looks brand new, complete with set up instructions. Thank you Amazon.
