This is a lovely, gothic looking shirt. I first ordered a Large which is my normal size. I was able to button it and it looked fine across the chest, but it gaped a little bit between the buttons and the sleeves were just a little tight. I returned it for an XL and it fits perfectly. For reference I am 5'4", 170lbs, and a 36C bust. It has room for my chest and doesn't feel stretched at all. The fabric is not see through, and doesn't feel thin. The corset ribbon in the back can be tied either loose or tight depending on the look I want for around my waist. It's not a true corset top though, so it won't cinch you in. It is just a lightweight ribbon. I also really, really like that there are two little snaps in the bust area so I can keep wardrobe malfunctions from happening.Things to look out for: The buttons are a little hard to do up. They button into stretchy loops and it does feel like a button could get ripped off easily. I fixed that by reinforcing the sewing of the buttons with more thread and they do feel stronger now. I had a little problem with the ribbon in the back slipping out when I was putting it on a hanger, but it's easy to fix. I will definitely be hand washing this shirt though. I think if you put it through the washer and dryer it might ruin it. I'll also be using my garment steamer for wrinkles as an iron would probably melt this fabric.

You really need to size up. I read the reviews and took the advice of others. My granddaughter has a very small waist and is well endowed so sizing was a bit of a challenge but we went for a XL. Glad we did! We can always take the waist in. However while the bust is a tad big in the XL, had we gone with the L, the pleats would have been stretched to the limit. She’s a 34DDD if the helps.

Beautiful silky fabric, and very well made. It’s part of my personal “wench” wardrobe. In costumes, I wear a 10-12, and ordered an XL which fits perfectly. A medium fit perfectly when I wore costumes size 8. If you want “room” in your blouse, order a size larger than I’ve referenced. Example, if I wanted a looser fit, I’d need an XXL. With the lacing in the back you have more opportunity to adjust the fit.

Beautiful lines--elegant, perfect for Victorian vibe; color true to photo, comfortable, easy care. Material snags easily is only issue. Reasonable price.

I'm 5'3", weigh 112, 34DD bust, 25" waist, & small framed. Wasn't sure on sizing because my bust is always too big for this type of cut if the waist isn't going to swallow me. I got the S & M in red, and will say that the red isn't as pretty in person. It's a more dull red than pic, but it at least doesn't have the orange undertone of so many red clothes (I would have sent both back if that had been the case. The medium fit me nicely. Plenty of room in the bust, and didn't look oversized on ribs and waist. It fit well enough I almost didn't try on the small, but did. The small still fit in the bust without looking weird on my bust, and it fit slightly more snuggly. The upper back felt a bit tight when I rolled my shoulders, but not horribly so. I normally wear a small top, but depending on style have gotten XS & M sometimes. I could have easily gotten away with keeping either of them, and looked nice. Neither had the button gap issue anywhere either. I ended up deciding to keep the small and returned the medium. I washed it in lukewarm water, and dried on low heat. It took that well, but to my disappointment will need some ironing. The buttons are difficult to button. The "button holes" are TINY elastic bands that have to be stretched around the half ball type buttons. My small fingers still had trouble. Overall I do like the blouse, and imagine I'll have it for many years to come. I believe that getting your normal size should be a good choice on sizing.
