low-speed mode great for kids and beginners, fantastic value for $109
This car is the best semi-real RC car for beginners that I've found on amazon. (and I've bought a few)The value for $109 is pretty fantastic. It's not as durable as more expensive cars, but at the price, I can't find anything better. This is *not* the car for doing maximum speed jump crashes as a skilled adult, because you will break it. However, this is the best "semi-real" offroad car I've found for my 7 year old son to enjoy something that's not a super cheap toy that breaks in 2 runs (advice: we only use low-speed mode). The low-speed mode is ideal, because it still has good breaking and reverse speed in low-speed mode (unlike another car I have, where turning down the proportional throttle removes all reverse). The low-speed mode is fast enough to be fun, and slow enough not to break the car in (most) accidents. The lower speed and light weight (<4lbs) means this car is unlikely to damage people or objects it hits. For example, I also have a "daddy" 1/8th scale Exceed Mad Beast monster truck that cost $400+, weighs 12+ lbs, and easily exceeds 45mph in high speed mode (if you full throttle from a standstill it will literally flip itself over immediately). That thing is awesome for me as a skilled adult, but it's proven too much for my 7 y/o son to drive. In low-speed mode it has no reverse, and it is still heavy enough to hurt someone and/or object it hits.Getting back to the Hosim 1/10th scale... The high speed mode is maybe ~30% faster, which is fast enough to have more fun as a skilled driver, but I'm pretty sure crashing it high-speed a few times will break something. I've been running R/C cars my whole life, I had a 50mph electric car in 1991 plus the current awesome Mad Beast, and I think the low speed mode on the Hosim is plenty fun enough.

Great RC car - lots of fun.
I bought the car for my sons Christmas present and he loves itThe Car arrived really quickly and in great condition, one downside it was supposed to come with two batteries but it only had one in the box.....(please send another one) Check on your orderThe car performs great, build quality is awesome and handles really well. definitely recommend as an introduction to RC.

These things can take a surprising beating
I purchased two of these a couple of years ago. We have abused the poor trucks but they still work great, barring some very minor repairs.First, some cons:* The bumpers on these things will snap off in the first 5 minutes of use, just accept it. These are flawed* Oddly, the springs which hold the batteries in the remote controls compartment are weak and we've had some power failures due to that, but stuffing a piece of paper under the lid solved the issue* The body is made of a very thin polycarbonate and cracks relatively easilyDespite the cons, the pros make it worth it:* Awesome battery life + the batteries charge fast* This thing can spin the tires all day, it's over-powered for its size!* Fast* Can take a serious beating. We've been jumping them off a ramp with some serious wipe-outs but they still keep going* Decent for the money* No assembly

First car defective, second was newer model
I received one of these guys after a brutal mess up in shipping so I was double excited when I finally got it. The first one was ok, it had the power and features described but on the very first use the power switch (very cheaply made) snapped off in the on position. I was prepared to live with that but then the high range gear stopped working. I returned and obtained a replacement, a newer version in a different box with a larger battery compartment, a stronger on switch and other minor upgrades was my replacement.Pros: Fast, powerful, catwalks on grass, adjustable steering sensitivity, takes jumps well and fairly durable.Cons: Power switch is flimsy, short battery life under 10min, the shocks make ALOT of creek whiney noises, like an old spring bed.An important note, the extra batteries by Hosim for this car are only 700mAH while the one that comes with it is 750, they are also fatter and did not fit in the first version of the car I received.

Impressive
Great fun, crazy fast and capable. Took a few hard hits so far and no problem. Left side wheel nuts can losten after use but easy to tighten with the tool provided. They even supplied some spares in the box. Reverse thread would be an improvement but a little locktight probably be an easy fix.
