Q: what color is the stuff inside the bottle supposed to be, mine is clear?

Part b should be light pink and part a should be brown.

Q: This is a stupid question but is the final mixture supposed to be clear? other f/2 media are brown colored. i added 0.5ml part 1+0.5ml part 2+1gal h20

Clear is fine but you may want to shake the bottle lightly before using.

Q: what is the shlef life of the product?

It's about two years. Your experience will depend on how long the bottle has been on the seller's shelf first.

Q: is this good to get algea growing in an aqurium? i need algea for snails shirmp etc.?

Yes, it's good for that. Just make sure you buy the other half of the formula too or it's pretty much useless. You might consider growing the algae in a separate tank if you have the time and resources though, I'm not sure how snails would handle the sudden nutrient mix.
