Awesome Product--would biy again
I set upon a desire to change my white thermofoil vanity to espresso wood stain. Yeah right everyone laughed. My good girlfriend showed my how to faux paint it, but the darker I went with faux the more it looked like paint. Then late night google searching turned up stainable primer. I ordered it. I spent 50 bucks on primer. Since this was thermofoil cabinets, i degreased, scuffed, patched and sanded. Next I used 2 coats of a bonding primer XIM, i have heard glidden gripper works too. Then I applied 2 coats of stainable primer. I did all this with my Purdy cut in brush to achieve some wood grain. I also followed how a wood door would be assembled with the wood grain for authenticity. After the 2nd stainable primer coat i waited 24 hrs to stain. I used 400 grit to sand the nibs lightly. For the stain, I used Kona by rustoleum, a little pot for 5 bucks at WM. One coat applied with a rag, then I used a trick my faux finisher taught me, cheesecloth poofed out and dragged over the stain in the direction of the grain. This gave it further dimension. Another recommendation is Mowhawk Precatylyzed Lacquer from Amazon. I did for 4 coats and between each coat I used a piece of printer paper to smooth the finish. Everyrhing right now is curing for 7 days.

Stain where you can't.
I asked about a product like this at my local paint store and they had no idea this existed. I looked online and found a demo on You tube and ordered a can. I works very well. Easy to use, easy to clean up, and does a decent job of letting me stain on surfaces that I normally could not. It takes a bit of practice to get the hang of it, but overall it's quite good. I practiced on a surface before using it on the areas I wanted stained.

Stain Primer
This product works very well and spreads over the surface smoothly. You still need to be creative in making your wood grain look. You need to research the net to learn how to get the look of real wood. If that is not that important to you than the primer will hold the stain color and match the stain color of your homes interior trim.

Nope
This product does not look like wood after you stain it. It looks like you painted something beige and then put a glaze over it. You can't return it either. 50 bucks down the drain

Not worth the money
This product will allow you to use your stain on a painted surface. Don't expect it to look anything like stained wood. Used this product on a metal surface with gel stain. Also used it on wood trim. Both results the same: looks like a painted surface. Much cheaper to buy the paint.

WORKS GREAT!!!
I had two interior doors that were primed for paint and I wanted them to look stained instead. Thought I'd try this first and I was very impressed. Rolled this on like primer and stained them like they were natural wood doors. Came out better than expected and have received many compliments. My only complaint is my first can was completely dried out and looked more like wood putty. Sent it back and got a new can.

Great product!!
This stuff saved me. I lucked up on it watching utube. We were remodeling our kitchen and I took on restaining the kitchen cabinets. I wasn't very far into it when I realized I couldn't get the lacquer off. Although pricey I had to try it. Shipping was a bit on the slow side. They use DHL. Slow.slow. Anyway I finally got it and boy it was well worth the wait. Goes on smooth and drys pretty fast. I only used one coat. Love this product.
