When I received this item I was so surprised at how small the bar was that I nearly packaged it right back up for return. But, I had purchased it because I wanted to help reduce plastic waste in our household, and wasn't sure how my husband would even react to the idea, so I decided to give it a try anyway... Well, I must say that I was impressed! I have extremely long, thick, straight hair. Usually I have to use an entire handful of liquid shampoo to get it all lathered up. But not with this bar! It took little effort to achieve a full lather throughout my entire mop, and with basically no visible use of the bar. As I massaged the soap through my hair it actually SQUEEKED, and the scent was light and pleasant with no heavy perfumes. The shampoo also rinsed out quick and easy, greatly reducing the amount of time I normally have to run water in the shower to get my hair fully rinsed.I never blow dry my hair, or use styling products or irons...I just let it air dry and brush it out later, and sometimes use a detangler if I didn't use a handful of conditioner after shampooing. But this time brushing my hair was much easier, and it felt light, soft, and had increased volume and shine. Later on, my husband tried it, and he usually doesn't outwardly comment on much of anything unless he hates something. But, without me even asking, he actually stated that he liked the bar shampoo, and commented on how little of it he had to use. So with that, I think we're sold!I made note of the day we started using the bar, to see how long it lasts in our household of two adults...so we'll see how it goes. Fortunately our shower has built in bar soap holders with drainage, and they are positioned in such a way that our rain showerhead doesn't really wear away at our regular bar soaps. But I did notice that this bar is nice, solid and firm, and after we used it, it didn't get soft or gooey at all. So I think it will last a good long while, and its definitely less wasteful than handfuls of liquid shampoo and conditioner! That, along with the fact that I can eliminate THREE plastic bottles from the recycling (shampoo, conditioner, and detangler), and the expense of the two additional products, this will be a much better value overall.Very pleased!

While I have been wanting to try bar shampoo for a long time, I was skeptical about this product. Now I am really glad that I tried it. It leaves my hair soft and clean and I love using it. I have very thick, dry hair almost down to my waist that I wash daily. This bar lathers nicely with the help of coconut oil as opposed to sulfates. The smell was odd to me at first but it isn't bad. It's kind of what I would expect an "old fashioned" soap to smell like. I leave the bar on a ventilated rack when not in use. I would not recommend leaving this in a soap dish as it will get slimy and shrink faster. They sell holders for this soap, so I ordered the plastic case and will review it after it arrives.I do use a separate conditioner with this soap on most days (Organix Coconut Milk) as my hair does get tangled even though I wash it carefully. I use a cider vinegar rinse 2x a week and my hair has no tangles after using it.This is perfect for any one going "low-poo." I would also recommend this to people who want to be able to bring shampoo with them while traveling but do not want to deal with plastic bottles. It is also great for people trying to get away from sulfates, alcohol, and other damaging chemicals. Some people may go through a transition period when first using this and may experience some waxy, oily buildup on the scalp. Try to give this product at least a week to get used to. I personally only had the buildup for a day or two. I liked this soap so much that I ordered the herbal version and can't wait to try that one out.My only complaint about this shampoo is that it is not good for washing out hair grease (coconut oil/shea butter mix). If you use coconut oil to protect your hair, you may want to have a regular non sulfate shampoo on hand to wash it out.

After a friend's success, I recently decided to switch to all-natural beauty products. One of the major things on my list to switch was, of course, shampoo. I've used a lot of different shampoos and have never stuck with any of them after the first few bottles, as I was never totally satisfied with the results of any of them. I'd heard of bar shampoo before, so when I found this I decided to try it, and I am NEVER going back to bottled shampoo. This stuff is AMAZING. My hair has been light and fluffy ever since the first wash, and so clean! It feels much cleaner than with any shampoo I've tried before.Now I have EXTREMLY oily hair, and usually have to wash my hair every day to keep it looking like I've showered in the past week. Unfortunately, this product didn't change that much. I do still prefer to wash my hair daily, however if I do go without washing it one day it's no big deal, so it's still a huge improvement from other shampoos.My favorite thing about this product is how easily it washes out. For some reason I've always had trouble getting all my shampoo washed out, and my baths/showers would take FOREVER. Now I can bathe/shower super quick and still have clean hair, instead of having to sacrifice non-oily mess because of a time crunch.There wasn't a scent listed that I could find, but the bar does have a light rose scent to it that is very nice. It doesn't really translate to my hair, instead my hair just has a, in the words of my mother, "clean smell".Make no mistake, this shampoo bar is SMALL. I was figuring it would be about the size of a regular bar of soap, but it's about 2/3rds that size. I still feel it's a good deal because even using it every day for several weeks it hasn't shrunk much besides a slight visible curve shape where I've been running it over my head. You do not have to use much of this shampoo at all. Rub the bar over your head 3 or 4 times and then start scrubbing and it'll sud right up. It seems like it'll last about as long as a normal bottle of shampoo, and is priced about the same.All in all, I would highly recomend this product, and will be buying it again.
