Finally, a car HUD that works, sometimes!!
Finally a car HUD that works! Satellite GPS-based and not an OBDII wired connection. Very easy to set up, just make sure that you get the timezone right. No need to use the reflective pads on my car (Subaru Forester SHA model), the image is clear and readable both day and night. The included non-slip pad is really good, no need for any double sided tape with this product. The speedometer is surprisingly responsive, and matches my existing GPS navi and radar 100%. The compass is useful; although it only shows the 8 cardinal and ordinal points, it is enough to enable you to see where you are going. I use the 24-hour time always, so no issues with that, and no interest in my current altitude, I have another device that gives me that. The display is bright enough to see on all but the sunniest of days, and dims down for night-time use, I did not find it distracting at all, and I really like to be able to just see my speed on the screen as I am driving, without peering down at the speedometer. One happy driver...UPDATE: Three months later, not such a happy driver. The device sometimes just does not even switch on; you have to pull the plug in and out of the socket powering it on and off and even then, it sometimes just does not work. The time zone function also is intermittent, and returns to the default setting.Well, it was quite cheap, and it does work sometimes!

I really love this product, but am only giving 4 stars.
I love this product! But, I love the second one I got. That's why 4 stars. The 1st unit had a very difficult time acquiring the GPS. I thought that, perhaps it might be an issue with the unit, rather than the product. I ordered a second one which, immediately upon placement on my dashboard, showed all 4 GPS bars.I primarily wanted a compass and car compasses are notorious for being hard to calibrate. No calibration with this, because it uses GPS. Of course, it only knows the direction you're pointing if you're moving. The IFU is poorly written, so let me help you with that. There are really only 2 adjustments you need to make. Don't get confused by the rest: - Set the speed for MPH - Set your time zone. The clock is set for Greenwich + 8. I found this out by trial and error. So, to make it easy for you, here's how to set it:It's at "8", so go: 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0 (Greenwich Mean Time), 1,2,3,4,5 (Eastern Time), 6 (Central Time), 7 (Mountain Time), 8 (Pacific Time). (Note - it uses a 24-hour clock. the time setting comes from the GPS satellite)Don't expect the speed readout to keep right up with your speedometer - remember, it's getting your speed from GPS readings of your car's movement. You toggle between settings by pushing the wheel in. You set it by rotating the wheel left or right. The Altitude is only displayed if you select it. To select altitude, when the unit is not in setup mode, simply rotate the wheel toward you. It will show altitude and stay there until you toggle it back. Default is the clock, so, even if you've selected altitude, when you turn the unit on, it will start on the time. The unit is very compact, about the size of a small, skinny cell phone. It comes with a polarized screen that you hang between the unit and the screen. It's meant to eliminate a double image. I didn't find I needed it. The image is sharp, even with the sun shining directly on the windshield. The unit has a light sensor that will mdim the unit at night so it's not glaring.I've attached a picture so you can see how it's placed in my car. It comes with a GREAT non-slip mat, so no installation of suction cups, double-sided tape, etc,Summary: - VERY easy to set up. takes about 2 minutes. - Very accurate - Easy, easy, easy. And, learn from me: if it doesn't seem to be working right, order a new one, put the old one in the packaging the new one came in, and plug the new one it.You'll love this!!!

Does as promised but good luck with the directions to get all settings right.
I got this because I have a speedometer without a digital display and I am short so I can keep the steering wheel as low as I prefer when using this. My issue is that I could not get it to program all of the features (time and date for example) to show properly. The speed and direction portion I somehow managed to get right. The directions included are inadequate. I want to mention also that the speed shown is actually, by my measurements (and I used not only the speedometer but also a GPS that showed my speed) that the speed is inflated by about 4-5 MPH (in my case). That's great if you want to always stay below the limit to avoid a ticket, but I found myself constantly accounting for the difference to gauge my real speed. Also, no fault of the product but the wires necessary were very unattractive. I eventually gave up and replaced it with a new GPS that showed my speed and direction, and was positioned at the far left corner of the windshield, far out of my line of sight. BTW it arrived in minimal packaging shipped directly from China.
